It appears that congratulations are in order for Eddie Murphy. He proposed to Tracey Edmonds on July 25 with a Cartier 8 carat fancy canary yellow diamond ring. Edmonds is the ex-wife of singer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds.

OK Magazine reports that Tracey celebrated with friends during lunch on the patio of the W Hotel in Westwood, California. “She looked very happy,” an eyewitness tells OK!. “She was proudly showing off the ring.”

The engagement came shortly after the couple attended the July 23 premiere of Who’s Your Caddy?, produced by Edmonds. She was wearing a large diamond on her left ring finger, raising questions about whether it was an engagement ring.

“No, this isn’t an engagement ring, if I were gonna do an engagement ring, it would be much bigger” said Murphy. Making a half-dollar-sized circle with his fingers over her ring, he emphasized, “This big!”
