Should a woman keep the engagement ring?
Ben Kepple asks “Should women keep their engagement rings if they decide not to get married to the men who gave them the rings?”
Any regular viewer of The People’s Court knows that it’s an open and shut case, an engagement ring is a promise to marry. If the marriage doesn’t happen because the woman backs out, she must return the ring.
To make it more interesting, let’s change the question a bit. What if there is a divorce? Let’s say the marriage went on for a couple of years and there was infidelity on the part of the woman? Should she return the ring?

oooh good question… and I’ll bet there’s some property law that applies here..

I would think that a woman who goes down the infidelity path probably doesn’t want to keep the ring anyway… would she??
