Slate publishes a scathing article today called: “Diamonds are a girl’s worst friend; the trouble with engagement rings.” I’m going to embed one of the tame YouTube videos linked to in the article, because some of the links are too graphic (very nsfw).

The Diamond industry may feel that with increased sales the year following the Blood Diamond movie, that the after effect of this horrible scandal is minor. But I’m not so sure. The anti-fur campaigns took years to become effective. But they did eventually decimate the fur industry. This can be avoided with diamonds. But the marketing has to stop and real action beyond KP has to take place.
