Quick Question
Quote this post and reply to it Post#1 @ 08-25-08 , 10:20 PM

Hey everyone, I am new to the forum and I was just wondering if anyone can help me out with a price for a diamond I am looking to purchase for my girlfriend. I picked it out at a store and I want to see if the guy is pulling my leg or not. If anyone has a current rapaport sheet and can tell me what it is listed for or if they are a dealer what they would sell it for, that'd be awesome. Here's the Info:

Round Brilliant
Measurements: 6.75 - 6.79 x 4.21 mm
Carat Weight: 1.20
Color Grade: G
Clarity Grade: VS2
Cut Grade: Excellent
Proportions:
Depth: 62.2 %
Table: 58 %
Crown Angle: 35
Crown Height: 15 %
Pavilion Angle: 41
Pavilion Depth: 43.5 %
Star length: 50 %
Lower Half: 75 %
Girdle: Medium to Slightly Thick, Faceted
Culet: None
Finish:
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: None

Thanks in advance

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

There are options with same to better specs for $600-1200 less. So for a store it is decent price, it's not "internet competitive" so to speak.

Potentially best 1.20ct+ G VS2 with triple Excellent is:

1.20 G VS2 EX GIA EX EX NN 61.3% 58% 6.81-6.83x3.35

For under $8000..

Under 8,000 that sounds pretty good, the dealer said he'd charge me 9200 for the stone and the setting. So he would not charge me for the setting at all, the setting has .36 ct weight to it, it has small diamonds halfway around the band. I know it's exactly what my g/f is looking for so as of now thats what im going with, I just wanted to make sure that if everyone on the site put the diamond around 8-9 grand i'd be happy, as long as it's not 6 or 7,000 it's alright haha. Thanks again but any other information you professionals have let me know! Thanks

So not getting killed there. Maybe take the info and get them to meet you in the middle or something. Great to have helped you!
