Laser Inscribed Serial Number
Quote this post and reply to it Post#1 @ 11-03-07 , 02:16 PM

I have been looking at diamonds and trying to educate myself on the buying process. In this self education I have come across a technology called Gemscribe. This technology uses laser inscription to imprint a serial number on the stone. Does this procedure damage the stone? Will it make my purchase more secure or more easily insurable? Does it change the value of the stone? Will it change the appearance of the stone?

Thanks

Tom

I'm not sure about the Gemsribe process, however we do carry quite a few stones that were laser inscribed by the GIA laboratory. Those don't effect the quality of the diamond or value or appearance of the diamond that I've seen.
