These earings were bought for my mother by my father around 1975 when he was working in Brazil. He brought them home as 'clip on' earings only to find my mother had had her ears pierced. On his next trip he returned to the goldsmith who had made them and asked for them to be changed to pierced drops. The result was the .50 carat stud dangled from which was the handcrafted 'shell' containing two .18 smaller diamonds. The gold is, I believe, 18ct and all diamonds are of superior quality.
