Hello All,

I hope someone can give me some advice. I saw this ring and its beautiful, but I want to make sure that all the information provided will not cause a red flag in your eyes.

GIA Specs.
http://www.gia.edu/reportcheck/inde...075&weight=1.32

Setting Specs:
Martin Flyer
9 Princess Cut Diamonds on each side.
Platnium
Total Carat weight 1.10

The jewler also allowed me to take some pics of the ring. Please take a look and let me know what you think. Also what do you think is an estimated price.

I went to www.gia.edu & checked the report # to make sure it was valid. It brings up the same page you attached, so that is a good sign.

Both the diamond & ring look gorgeous, and super sparkly to me.

Some people like Princess cuts to be more square. This one has a slight rectangular shape to it......but maybe you like it that way. That is just personal preference.

The only thing I'd be concerned about, is where it says the Girdle is Extremely Thin to Extremely Thick. You have to be careful with Princess Cuts that have very thin girdles because they can be more prone to chipping, especially on the corners.

Are you buying this online, or at a retail store? If you're buying it at a store, you'll probably be paying more for it. I'm guessing it's around $9K.

Hopefully one of the experts (which I am not) will chime in, and will give you their professional opinion also.

Good luck.

Amy

hello sell682 and welcome to DiamondRing!
Pretty ring. IMO, and I'm no expert, I'd be concerned about the girdle being extremely thick and extremely thin. The points on a princess are vulnerable so where is it "extremely thin"?
Please save time by telling us the price

The thin part is not at the points but on the sides. He is asking 12,000 which includes tax.

Sorry i was incorrect with the Platnium setting characteristics.
Its 1.15 total caret weight
stones are F color and VS 1 & 2 Clarity.

Hello,
I'm new to Diamondring.com. I've been reading the post and have a question. Does $12k include the ring?

The diamond itself should not cost more than $9k. The fact that it has "extremely" on both ranges of the girdle make it less valuable, and you should use that to your advantage and negotiate with the jeweler. The girdle won't impact the integrity of the setting since the princess is faceted by the corners.

As far as the square vs. rectangular. The stone has a ratio of 1.04. It's not a perfect square, but still looks squarish.

I hope this helps.

Tal

It's an ok deal, not great. The stone has 74 table which is a little on the large size for a princess, 69-71 is best. The girdle is extremly thin and thick, there is faint FL, the symmetry is only good, and it's not a perfect square. You could probably do better for this price, which I'm assuming to be around $9k.

What's the price of the ring if you buy the diamond separately?

So that puts the stone at about $8.5k. Then it's ok, but the ring is expensive... I don't mean to burst your bubble, just giving you my honest opinion to help you get the most value for you money.

Without seeing the stone it's difficult to tell.

expensive in a good way or bad way... what you think it should be valued at.. It is a designer ring. Im not defending the ring just greatful for the input and what you think would be a good price.

What's the color/clarity on the stones in the ring?
If usual G/H VS2/SI1, than closer to $2.5k.

Since you're buying the setting and the diamond, I'd say closer to $10k for the package.

Here's an example of a GIA stone I sold a few weeks ago that's comparable to what you're looking at.

$8,400

1.34
F
VS1
D:69.2
T:70
P:G
S:G
L/W: 1.01

Hope this helps,
Tal
