A couple presented me with a vey thin, 1.5mm, round, Rose Cut Diamond. Based on the thickness of the Diamond, I did not know how to price it out. It was in a older foilback ring. If I did do an appraisal on it and they lost it, who would have this? Has anybody seen such a thing? Any replies would be greatly appreciated. How would I price it out? MB The above "Ask Diamond Talk" post was filled out online at http://www.diamondring.com/forums/n...amondq uestion |

Hi Marybeth, The rose cut weights about 50% of a 8/8 cut of the same diam. with this you can calculate the total weight and for the price you can consider to be 60% of the Rappaport price of the 8/8 cut of the same color and clarity. |

re:Rose Cut
Thanks all for you quick reply. I guess I forgot to mention that the stone was 11.27mm and weighed 2.02 cts. How do I price somethig out so thin, yet weighs 2.00 cts.? Sorry I left that out. |

Wow, really is a flat! 11.27 diam by 1.5 deep, I have never seen a rose cut so flat and of this size, this is a rejection. If you want to know just the price, this stone costs about 25% the price of a full cut of the same clarity and color. But maybe someone can be interested in this rarity to make an old replica and can pay more. |
