Men's Cushion / Old Mine Cut Ring
Here is my second ring. Made by Mark T of ERD, it features an antique OMC with two baguettes as accent stones, all in heavy duty satin finished platinum. |

Re: Men's Cushion / Old Mine Cut Ring
Wow! That is really beautiful. I think it may be the most beautiful Mens diamond ring I have ever seen. Is there a story behind the stone? |

Re: Men's Cushion / Old Mine Cut Ring
Hi Ancienthills, Thanks for your kind words! The story behind the stone is that my mom generously offered to buy me a stone for my graduation and after some extensive looking, I happened upon a strongly blue fluor stone that also happened to have a beautiful cut and I was sold The stone was described to me by the vendor as being an antique, so it was an added bonus.Quote:

Thanks Irish and ShepherdLover, its always flattering when I get compliments on the stone/ring, it took almost a year after getting the stone to figure out just how it was to be set! Quote:

Re: Men's Cushion / Old Mine Cut Ring
Awww shucks Thanks, I spent *alot* of time playing with my camera (and all the cams of my buddies) to figure out just how to capture what I see with my two eyes. As most people can attest to, the pictures still pale in comparison to the sparkle that we can capture with both eyes... but its fun to try heheheQuote:

Re: Men's Cushion / Old Mine Cut Ring
what a fantastic ring - glad to see other guys who like the diamonds!!! can i just ask, what is the carat size of the stones, expecially the old mine cut?? am just having a ring made myself at the moment with a canary yellow princess 0.65ct set between two bands, and two channels of smaller yellow princess either side of the stone. Re: Men's Cushion / Old Mine Cut Ring
Hi Kevin, Thanks for the compliment. The stone is: 1.15 cts Depth % 74.6 Table % 50.0 6.19 x 5.86 x 4.37 sides are 0.15cts a piece @2x4mm i think. Your ring sounds pretty cool, hope you can post it when its done! HTH. Scott Quote:

Re: Men's Cushion / Old Mine Cut Ring
It took me and my jeweler many back and forth designs to get it just right! As far as the other stats... Stone is an eye clean SI1 (with a small vertical needle/featherlike inclusion that is nearly 10x loupe invisible) Color is L with strong blue fluorescense which makes it appear more like a J (I am color sensitive but I happen to enjoy warmer colors and really get a kick out of natural phenomena like fluorescense). Do drop me a note on this thread when you post your pics! Thanks Quote:

Re: Men's Cushion / Old Mine Cut Ring
Hi Kevin, Congrats on getting the project done! It is a fine looking ring, I like the channel set diamond bands, very cool. Perhaps you can take a picture in natural lighting... I think that flash/fluorescent tends to bring out the blue aspect of the stones, which when mixed with a yellow base are giving you the Lime color that you describe. I think that indirect sunlight without flash will allow you to capture the yellow of the stones (unless they have blue fluorescence, like a yellow diamond my mom has which give it a Mountain Dew coloration heheh, very electric). It would be cool if you could post a profile shot, I am curious as to how the center stone is set in relation to the bands. A ring size would be helpful as well for me to imagine the scale. Thanks, and wear it in good health! |
