Help on a cushion for a total newbie
I am in the process of buying my girlfriend an engagement ring and need help with a particular cushion I found. To my eye and my parents eye it looked great; sparkled in all the right places. Here are the stats GIA rated Cushion Brilliant Measurements 6.2 x 5.96 x 4.11 Weight 1.20 carot Depth 69% Table 68% Girdle Thin to very thick, faceted Culet Large Finish Polish Excellent Symmetry Very Good Clarity VVS1 Color Grade G Flurecence None I have no clue what girdle table and depth a cushion should be and I have read multiple threads with different opinions; what I am concerned about is the table seems higher than what must people seem to like; but I have no clue!! What should I being paying for this kind of diamond; the jewler I went to is charging $8000 for the stone alone.. Please help |

Re: help on a cushion for a total newbie
I have found this one in the diamond listing. I think the price is really good and the diamond beautiful too. Ask to talk to brad for more information. |

Thank you, I know it is hard to give opinions without actually seeing the stone, myself and my parents both really liked it and then I came to the forums and I am starting to doubt what I think based on what I have read. Should I be??? Should an alarm go off that the GIA report on this diamond is dated in 2005........... Again excuse the ignorance because I really do not know much and I should have done all this reading first; |

Re: Help on a cushion for a total newbie
I don't know what you've read on some of these Internet Forums regarding the "correct" stats for a Cushion shape diamond. The bottom line is there are none. Anyone feeding you "Preferred" or 'Ideal' stats for a Cushion is either ignorant or just regurgitating erroneous information posted by others. There are many combinations of Table, Crown, and Pavillion facet angles, sizes, and alignments that will yield a beautiful visually beautiful Cushion Diamond that can't be determined by just looking at the Lab report. You either have to see the diamond yourself or have a trusted Vendor see and examine it for you. In you case, three (3) people you trust have seen the diamond and really liked it. Trust your eyes! Remember she will be wearing the diamond on her finger, not the Lab Report. |
