I am looking to buy an Eternity type band (channel set) - white gold, 3-3.5mm, .25-.30 TW of small diamonds - the classic look. I would really love the diamonds to be of high quality though - that is very sparkly - and a nice setting. I saw nice pieces like this at Mayors and Bailey, Banks & Biddle in the Mall, but the huge markups are not all that attractive. Is there any chance that I find something like that at 350$ or less? I would really appreciate any links to specific sites. |

I would suggest checking out an antique store. Keep in mind that if the diamonds go all the way around, chances are that the ring cannot be sized. Good luck in your search. ![]() Melissa |

antique stores are good
but pawn shops are generally cheaper than antique stores and have a better selection...buyer beware |

what kind??
Hi Syracusa, I tried to see the picture on the Boscov site, but they had errors. Maybe you can copy and paste it on your replies. Are you looking for the all the way around band or just half way? Either way, 0.25 carats of VVS/F quality diamonds on 18K White gold would run you around $350. Antique stores are good if you're looking for "antiques"- not beautiful VVS full cut diamonds. Avoid pawn shops, you don't want to get involved with those poeple. Feel free to do a search of my many happy DT clients regarding my work. Have you seen the Tiffany Etoile band? That is very popular right now. See picture below, anything like these?

Wow!
Those are really pretty. Ever do a combination of baguettes and rounds or princess cuts? |

Those people????
Oh I forgot---how dare I try to use what diamond savvy that I have gained...how dare I look for unique or antique pieces, or interesting mounts that I can have set with my own stones...That's right---I forgot----the only good pieces of jewelry are those bought first hand from a "designer". Besides, a pawn shop is a great way to see a huge variety in diamond quality...granted the pawnbroker won't fuss over you with scopes and reports---but if your requirements are 'small, sparkly and pretty..." that can be accomplished very easily at a pawnbroker instead of god forbid Zales. I'll stop shopping there right away and I'll come straight to your altar... |

kgirl...
you are absolutely right! I've looked for a pawnbroker near me but haven't found any. They're especially good if you are looking for inexpensive pieces for little girls. Down in Charlotte, NC there was a wonderful collection of pawnbrokers to choose from. I don't know if you live near NY state or not, but there is a wonderful little antique store called "Other's Oldies" in Cold Spring, NY. The owner's name is Tom, and he's wonderful to deal with. He has a great selection of antique and second-hand jewelry, and his prices are good. We almost bought a 2.82 European cut round set in platinum with 16 points of diamonds in the sides. The clarity was VS2, and the color was I/J (I know this because I took it to be appraised when we decided we serious about this ring). It was Priced just around $9,000, and the appraisal came back almost $11,000! Most of the wedding rings in his store were only a couple hundred dollars or less. |

thanks so much diamondangel
we have an odd collection of pawnbrokers here in cumberland, Md---around 5 hours away from new york.... the 1/2 pawn 1/2 porn is usually the hardest to get deals---though i did pick up a platnium mounting with a pearl for $35.00 because the owner thought it was silver and never bothered to look at the marks closely... have a story for you.... my daughter has been rather upset with me because i got rid of my wedding set soon after her dad's death...it bothered me and i needed the money... so i decided to get a "no bad memories" inheritance diamond, but my budget was extremely limited....so off to J&S Pawn (the chain of 2 not connected to the pawn and porn, these shops are family atmosphere places---they sell cds and video tapes to kids for $2.00 a piece and used playstation games for $8.00) the most expensive piece is a 3/4 ct princess---with no flaws that i could see under the loupe for $1,100... I found a round whose color and cut Maria and I adored, but had a feather---but ah the rainbows! Price was $849----I pointed out the feather and the hideous setting....pawn broker drops the price to $649----took it to jeweler to see about a new mount---she was very impressed and urged me to get the papers done on it and have it insured. |

found 1/2 way around eternity bands
1 in yellow gold $75.00 and 1 in white $80.00 at pawn---should be easy to find in a pawn in your area----these would still be sizeable now and in years to come.... diamondangel----what are you looking for? Frederick Maryland 1.5 hours away has at least 3 pawn shops and there are 4 more within 30 mile of my house... New York and Pa have some seriously nice antique shops.....i loved antique annies in sprindale pa, but have not been that way in a few years so i do not know if they are open.. |

I am selling a band. It might meet your description but the diamonds do not go all the way around the band. They only go over the top. http://www.diamondring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9507 |
