Setting a princess stone?
Quote this post and reply to it Post#1 @ 06-10-06 , 07:35 PM

I'm having a 7 mm princess stone set into a 5mm wide cathedral, it is a v-prong setting. I'm concerned about the height of the head - it's about 10 mm. How much lower will it be once the stone is actually set? What is the lowest I could set it?
Here's a picture of the setting:

Not an expert, but I don't think that once the stone is set, that your diamond will be any lower than the pictues indicate... I'm curious to see what others say.

Congrats on the princess, it's my favorite cut!

I can't imagine it being too much lower either. The pavillion has got to be clear of those prongs and the inside of the base is already several mms off the finger. The best way to get it set low would be to opt for a basket setting - like Snooper's ER. I'm sure she'd be happy to post a picture for you.................right , Snooper?! Good luck with your new ring!
