How should a heart shaped diamond ring be worn?

How should a heart shaped diamond be worn on the hand for an engagement ring? Point facing towards the wrist or away from the wrist?

Personally, I wear my heart ring with the point towards the wrist. That's just my preference - you should go with what is most comfortable and looks better to you.

I would think that because one would be staring at it a lot, it would make sense to wear it with the point facing the wrist, that way it doesn't look upside down (like when typing!)

I think the wearer should have the advantage in appreciating their diamond's shape. Heck, after what some of us go thru to pick them, it makes perfect sense, doesn't it?? Therefore, I'd wear it pointed toward the wrist.

Both rings are gorgeous. DBL had a heart with ruby baguettes just before Christmas that I really liked, which is now sold. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a win on the lottery tonight!

I wear my pear with the point facing out away from the wrist. I just think it looks nicer that way.

I gave my DD a small heart diamond solitiare for valentines day this year and she wears it with the point facing out away from her wrist as well. I never said anything about it (as I recall), but that's how she wears it.

Hmmmm? I wonder why the picture didn't show up in the thread? It's already on DT, so I copied the url and then hit the little picture icon in advanced mode.

Oh well.. if you click the link above ^ you'll see the little heart diamond ring.

That is such a pretty little ring, DiamLady. I bet your DT loves it.

I know with the irish Claddagh ring, when the point faces inwards towards the wrist it symbolises that someone is taken, or in a relationship. that is if the ring is worn on the right hand. if the point is facing away from the wrist it shows the person is not in a serious relationship or is looking for one.
when worn on the left hand ring finger facing away from the wrist it says the person is engaged. now facing towards the wrist usually means the wearer is married.

i am not sure if this would pertain to rings other than the Claddagh, but it is a nice sentiment... maybe even a little romantic history before proposing?

i don't actually know a whole lot about irish tradition... or rings for that matter... i have just done alot of research. i am planning on asking my girlfriend to marry me, and i want it to be perfect. any tips or help will be appreciated.

This was a question in a Dear Abby column once... Abby recommended that the heart should be worn facing AWAY from the wearer, but I'm planning on wearing mine facing me. I wear my heart-shaped Tiffany's ring in this fashion as well.

Kind of an old thread, but I'll add my 2 cents worth.

I wear my heart ring with the tip pointing away from me (Rightside up to everybody, Upsidedown to me), because I like wearing a wedding band with it.......I don't want the heart tip to rub into the wedding band.

But I don't think it really matters.........it's just personal preference.
