Kimberly ring?
Quote this post and reply to it Post#1 @ 02-02-06 , 11:04 PM

I just found a very pretty find in a pawn shop. I bought a vintage white gold ring, that is a kimberly ring. First off, what is a kimberly ring?

The second thing, the guy didnt know what the stone is, excet that it isnt a diamond. Its not glass. I tell you this thing looks more like a diamond than moasanite! It is a huge at least 4 carat emerald cut, with a lot of color flash.

The stone has a yellow hue to it in the light. I am guessing it is a white sapphire. I thought topaz, but topaz does not sparkle like this.

I took pictures but it wont let me load them, says they are too large. I hate this camera.

He was asking 300 bucks, and I managed to get it for 100,lol
It is the most beutiful emerald cut stone that is not a diamond that I have ever seen. It also has side stones that step down.

So does a yellowish flash to it sound like a sapphire? And any advice on a kimberly ring. It is engraved in the band. This was an estate sale ring.

I have just bought a older Kimberly signed ring also. I took my to a Jewlers and he told me it was zircon! But the more I look around on the web for zircons and researching them. I am not so sure he was right. He appeared to be a heavy drinker from the smell of him lol! Just wondering if you found anything out yet! Mine is 14k white gold and the stone is a blue green. Flashy and big over a karat. 10mm in size it is round brilliant cut he did tell me that .

Oh, forgot to add, it wasnt zircon. I could tell that by looking at it.
Zircon does not have that kind of fire. You said your stone is kind
of bluish, do you think it could be an aquamarine? Some kind in a very light blueish shade. The rudite had a slight yellow to it in certain light.

I couldn't figure out how to post a photo here. So I posted some photo's on our homepage under photo's. See what you think! I am not very knowledgeable. I do collect gems Just started about a year ago. Living in N.C. and gardening it's hard to throw the pretty gems back in ground in my garden! Anyway I am still curious about this name KIMBERLY on the rings. I can't seem to find any info on them!

It's pretty. Here is your picture that I cropped. Maybe a zircon or a synthetic stone...

I had that done the one who was suppose to know everything said it was a blue zircon. 10mm in size. The local jeweler wasn't sure what it was! I am thinking it is probably a zircon. He appraised it for at least 500. Because his book only went up to 6mm. He said amybe more. My husband bought it for me for our 30th anniversary at some kind of auction somewher. God knows where he is a driver.

The kinberly ring I bought was from the 1940's. So they do go back, but I dont have any other information on them.
