Anyone ever heard of a "Promotional" diamond grade? Is it a real grade? They're on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAP...119644&tc=photo

Are they real?

Generally-they are lower graded diamonds (I1-I3) and low color, the type where you can get a 5ctw. tennis bracelet for $999.

Hmmm, I guess I might be able to sand my deck with them... Calling them "promotional" makes them sound so much more appealing. I associate promotional items with flags, balloons, and free giveaways Not with diamonds!

Assuming promotional cut quality as well, what is a decent consumer price for 3 point I?

A $7 price might tempt some people to buy some 1/12th inch diamonds.

I often wonder why people buy promotional quality diamonds.

Really....... what is the point?

When you think of the word diamond, what comes to mind? A stone that is bright with fire and brilliance or a stone that looks like a cotton ball?

I think it is better to just get a nice gold bracelet without any stones, than to pay for the cotton balls. They detract from the look. That is just my opinion.
