Identifying goldsmith marks - Garrard & Co.?
Quote this post and reply to it Post#1 @ 11-24-05 , 07:11 PM

The jeweler's opinion of the engagement ring I have been given is that it dates from the 1930's and was manufactured by Garrard & Co. I would like to be able to research it to see whether that might possibly be true. Does anyone have suggestions on how to do this?

I have looked at the archive listings for the V&A AAD, and it looks like there might be some useful Garrard & Co. archival documents there, but as I'm not located in England I will not be able to look into that for awhile.

There are several smithing marks on the interior of the ring. Could anyone suggest a source for information that would allow me to "read" the smithing marks?

Thanks very much!
