Diamond Stud Earing Recommendations
Hello all, I'm new to this forum and I've been reading posts for the past week or so. I need a little help. I'm trying to buy my girlfriend some diamond stud earings for Christmas. I have a budget of $200. I am trying to find something along the lines of 14kt white gold and round cut. Can someone point me in the right direction in terms of websites, obtaining the best value, certified, ect..) I've already been to whiteflash.com Your help is greatly appreciated. Fred |

Re: Diamond Stud Earing Recommendations
I am serious. With your $200.00 budget, ebay should be considered. There are reputable vendors selling on eBay. David of DBL, our esteemed colleague and DT Network Jeweler is an eBay vendor of long-standing with a stellar reputation on that forum. One of the very best. I hope he'll chime in here and give you the benefit of his eBay experience on how to proceed. Good Luck. |

Re: Diamond Stud Earing Recommendations
I don't know if this post will get censored or not, but here goes: 1) Whiteflash - either A Cut Above stones you can chose yourself or Expert Selection Ready-To-Go that I have read are quite nice (hand chosen and matched by Brian The Eyes of Whiteflash), uncerted, but guaranteed to please, they say. Good deal there. 2) Any of the vendors here can help you match stones if you are interested in contacting any of them. I know Barry has a list of Ideal Cut rounds (not the in-house Superbcert ones) that you can look through and have called in for analysis. However, within your given budget, this may not work. I think the prices of the settings themselves are over $200 sometimes! So it may pay to go for a Blue Nile / Mondera / Whiteflash route for now. If you do go Whiteflash, they do have a trade-in option on certified stones, but you'd have to ask about the uncerted Expert Selection ones. If I were you, that's probably the route I'd go if quality is the most impertant thing (and it should be - a well cut stone will perform better and look bigger than a poorly cut bigger one!). I looked at Whiteflash, and the least expensive round stud they have is a 4-prong basket style in 14K with 0.25ctw, 3.2mm diameter G-VS stones for $260. A little over your budget. BUT - perhaps you could call them and ask if they have some similarly sized stones with the same fine cut quality that may be a little lower in color or clarity. Blue Nile has some 0.25ctw studs with 18k WG screw backs, I SI-2 for $225. It looks like you may have to up the budget a bit, go to a local "maul" store, or look into a simulant pair (that you could fit with real stones later in life if budget allows). Just my $0.02........ |

Christine, I think you may have confused Diamondtalk with another diamond forum. |

Perhaps... ![]() That said, I have noted experiences with not being able to mention certain vendors here - and since I don't know who they are / what that is all about, I guess I'm hesitant to mention anyone / anything outside of the sponsors here. Fred - good luck with your earring hunt! |

Curious response, Christine. |

;)
Hey ECF, Since you like to be entertained, why don't you go to Marvin and tell him to knock it off ![]() But remember, the less you say the better, ignorance is bliss. Marvin will certainly appreciate that. |

Re: Diamond Stud Earing Recommendations
Barry - I know WF is a sponsor here. I didn't know if I was able to suggest Blue Nile, Mondera, Winfield's, Nice Ice, Diamond Ideals, Good Old Gold, etc. Gilbert - sheesh, man! If you have something you'd like to discuss with me, please send me an e-mail or a PM and address it properly - not in someone else's thread. |

What I basically did was quote your own words from a previous lost post back to you. And you got offended. IOW, you offended yourself. LOL. ![]() You did state that you enjoy ignorance. I'm happy for you. But no need to pass this joy unto others here. We don't need half ass expertise. Go to Alt.Diamonds for that. And if that's not enough for you then you should spend more time with Marvin.

I think the only vendors that get censored are those that were past vendors that got banned for being less then honest. It would be no surprise that DT would censor those for good reason. |

I wholeheartedly agree - but how do I know who that is? All I wanted to do was help. In the time it took me to compose my first post in this thread (and while looking quickly around the web for earrings for Fred), a number of people already posted. I am not in the trade, I just enjoy being on this site when I have a little time, and I'd like to be able to help someone out - consumer to consumer - if I can. That's all. I'm sorry if I offended anyone or stirred a hornets nest - I didn't mean to. BUT - I also do not like to be treated in a disrespectful demeanor myself. I will stand by every post I have ever made on this forum - anyone can read my words - in their proper context - anytime they want. |

Re: Diamond Stud Earing Recommendations
I got a pair of studs off Ebay for $250. They're 20 points each, G color, VS1 clarity, good to excellent cut. The quality have been confirmed by my local jeweller. Sometimes you can find good stuff there, but you better be willing to take risks.

Re: Diamond Stud Earing Recommendations
Ok here's what I narrowed it down to: http://www.knoxjewelers.biz/index.h...ion=show_detail I/SI-2 $200 http://www.whiteflash.com/golden-wa...-Set&CategID=54 G/VS $260 I'm sure both of these sellers are both excellent, but which would you pick? |

Re: Diamond Stud Earing Recommendations
You couldn't go wrong either way but why not save $60 and go with Knox. You will see no difference in clarity/color on the ears! If you willing to spend the extra $60...then bump up to the next size with Knox. Just a few thoughts for ya!!~Ronda |

Re: Diamond Stud Earing Recommendations
How about in terms of the quality of the cut? |
|
|
Re: Diamond Stud Earing Recommendations
I can only answer that question on a consumer level. I am not sure if the above jewelers hand pick the diamonds and then set them. That is something I would ask them. On the other hand, I would say that the above diamonds are definately not the commercial quality that you would get at Walmart or a "maul"/chain store. I don't think you will have to worry about the quality you will get from either Knox or Whiteflash. Give them a call---they will be very helpful....and I don't think you will have to worry about "sales" pressure!!!!!!!~Ronda |
