cleaning channel set ring
Quote this post and reply to it Post#1 @ 10-29-05 , 01:43 AM

hi i was just wondering how i can clean my channel set diamond wedding ring. now i know that i probably have little chips compared to most of the DT'rs but i am truly in love with my ring and just want to take care of it. i have had it since the beginning of oct. it is now almost the end of oct and it already looks dingy. i can see behind the band into the diamonds and i see little dirt spots i never saw before. i was just wondering what i could do.
the ends of the channel set are open. it holds eleven princess cut diamonds totalling .50 ct so they are rather small. but i am sure i can find a way to keep them as sparkly as the first day i wore them. anyway..if anyone has a good way to keep my precioussssesss sparkly i would appreciate any input....mjs

Hi mjs,

Channel set bands with square stones are one of the more difficult designs to clean, especially at home.

Usually they will need 10-15 minutes in a heated ultrasonic cleaner and then a thourough steaming to get them looking like new again.

I have a ring like this also.
I make life easy and take it in to the jeweler and make them clean it. Normally one of their cleanings will keep me happy for about 2 weeks.

I have a Salton Jewelry cleaner that has both the ultrasonic component and the steamer component. It works beautifully and if used consistently, will keep your rings quite clean in between jeweler visits. I bought mine at QVC.com.
