Oval Question
Quote this post and reply to it Post#1 @ 09-21-05 , 01:52 AM

Hi - I'm an oval shape lover and am looking for a 3.0 ct stone with good details. I have found one with the following and am asking if anyone out there has an opinion on this stone.

Shape: Oval
CT Wt. 3.01
Color: G
Clarity: VS2
Lab: GIA
Cut: Very Good
Depth %: 67.6
Table %: 56.0
Girdle: Very Thin, Faceted
Culet: None
Polish: VG
Symmetry: G
Floures: None
Dimen: 10.85 x 7.75 x 5.23 mm

Are there any other oval lovers out there who can recommend a good supplier? I, like everyone else, am looking for one with minimal bow-tie.

Thx - Ovalover

The preceding form was filled out on our Ask DT page.

Thanks very much for the advice. I plan to see the stone in person and, hopefully, it will be fine. I also would like to check out other 3.0 ct ovals if anyone knows of good ones.

Thx - Ovalover

Please let me know if you do or do not get this stone. I am interested in the same type of diamond and if you do not buy this let me know why and perhaps I might be interested in it. And if you do buy it, perhaps you would disclose the price you paid. I have gotten many quotes and would be willing to share info with you also. Thanks, Ulrich

Yes, I did purchase the 3.01 oval and have already had it set in a platinum setting w/ 1.04 cts. surrounding diamonds. I paid a little over $38,000.
Let me know how you do.

Okay, here goes - hope the picture comes out ok.

Let me know if it doesn't come out. I'll be having my daughter take more pictures from different angles and a hand shot later this week.

Ok - I'm getting the following message:

File Too Large. Limits are 700 x 0. Your file is 900 x 647.

How do I decrease the size of the picture?

Thx!

Hi Ovalover...

I too am new to posting pics (going on day 3) and I had that problem as well!! on my canon camera, there was softwear included... so when I go to the "export image" I had to reduce the pixels to 500, then I could post the pics... Asschers told me to try 500 and it worked, so maybe '500' is the magic number???

Very Nice Yay, you figured out how to post a picture 'small enough' (I feel your pain)...

Is this ring an upgrade? For a future engagement? Details Very nice! What other types of diamonds are on the sides of the oval?

Yea - I was finally able to post the picture.

Yes, the ring is an upgrade and a 35th anniversary present from my husband. It replaces a 1.10 ct marquis with rounds in a channel setting. Over the years the setting deteriorated to the point where it couldn't be fixed - hence, the upgrade.
The new ring is set in platinum with 3 marquis and 4 baguettes on each side of the center stone, totaling 1.04 cts. I'm still in shock at the size of the ring and really love it. My old ring is being reset into a pendant with the rounds being used as a halo. All in all, I know I'm very fortunate in having 35 great years and a wonderful family.

One of my daughters is going to take more pictures of the ring and a couple of handshots. I'll be sure to post them.

Thanks for your good wishes and help.

jean

Ovalover,

Very nice I haven't seen enough ovals to 'give them a fair chance' but I'm starting to warm up to them...

WOW 35 years?!? CONGRATS!! That's quite a milestone, so go on and show off that ring!

Ovalover, in all the confusion of the various ovals that were being looked for or sold, I missed where you got this one. Who'd you get it from?

Hi -
I purchased my diamond and setting from Derco Jewelers in San Francisco, CA. I worked with Pete who was so helpful. I have done business with Derco before and have found them to be very honest and reliable.
