Arranging your rings on your finger
Many of you wear some combination of three rings on your left hand ring finger. These could include erings, wrings, annring, wraps, etc. I am interested in the folowing: How do you arrange these rings on your finger? How many different combinations of them do you wear? Got to have pics to make this work!!! |

Re: Arranging your rings on your finger
Ashbee, in the thread "How do you wear your wedding set" I posted these pics of my rings....unfortunately I am unable to insert that thread here.....so here are my 3 wedding "looks" with stones my DH has given me over the years.I feel the single rings create a *band* effect as they are wider on the finger.....at least this is the way I wear them. |

Re: Arranging your rings on your finger
Susi Very nice!!! Were they all purchased to wear separately or did you have some combinations in mind?? I wonder how your wedding set in photo #3 would look worn with your 3 stone band in photo #1??? |

Re: Arranging your rings on your finger
AshBee, all the rings were made to be worn separately. But I do enjoy playing with them ![]() The 3 stone looks good with the solitaire but the diamonds would cut into the platinum mount and would cut it in two in no time. If I put a plain plat band inbetween them, it's just "too much" ring. If the 3 stone was a bezel set mount, that might work. |

Re: Arranging your rings on your finger
Susi,Wow, nice rings!! Would you mind sharing the carat weight of the above rings? (I'm always impressed with the amount of weight you all wear!! ) The 2nd pic is quite unique.. I have never seen a setting like that! Is it custom made? It looks like the sides curl... It's late here, perhaps I'm tired?? |

Re: Arranging your rings on your finger
Hello, Snooper & Thank You! ....the carat weight on the 3 stone is 2.56 total....middle stone is 1.04 and the ends are .76 each. One of the end diamonds was my Grandmother's engagement stone The one in the middle was purchased for me as a part of a legacy from my DH's uncle. The solitaire in the bottom pic is 3.174 and is an HOF. The little ring with the curling sides is Lazare Kaplan's Rollover Ring and is my favorite one! I first saw that mount in a print ad around 10 years ago. I loved it! But could not get any info on who made it. Finally a year later, I saw another print ad for the same mount and the tiny wording "DeBeers" at the bottom! My jeweler then called DeBeers and they gave him the info on who made the mount/ring. Since my Jeweler was a Kaplan dealer he would be able to get that mount made up for me. But there was only one problelm....Kaplan wouldn't sell the mount alone...without a Lazare Kaplan stone in it I had been looking at a certain LK stone the jeweler had....for some time so....decided to purchase it, then my DH ordered the rollover mount for me. It took months to make and I was so excited! Here's how it looks from the side: |

Re: Arranging your rings on your finger
Wow, that's an amazing setting (the Kaplan). I guess that saying of, " The best thing comes to those who wait" is true! Your solitare looks HUGE! I have a 3.10 princess (arriving in my hands THIS friday after being reset--will post pics but yours looks larger... You must have a small ring size... Mines 7.5 (had to go to 7.5 because when I stack them, they get snug on my stupid short fingers)...

Re: Arranging your rings on your finger
Snooper, I feel that rings/stones look larger or smaller depending on finger size....it just seems to be proportion "thing" As for the Kaplan ring....and the best things coming to those who wait....here is the story of the Kaplan: http://www.diamondring.com/forums/t...ehomeagain.html |

Re: Arranging your rings on your finger
Hi AshBee, Well, here goes... Hubby proposed over 3 years ago with a round diamond set in white gold (it had a few smaller rounds on both sides) and the center stone was probably 1/3??? Well I wore it, but after a few days started getting rashes and the sort due to being allergic to white gold (didn't know this, or I would have told him platinum). We were poor graduate students... I honestly wanted platinum because of its weight, but we were up to our eye balls in loans!! So a two months later, we had to get something different. My then ER was a 1.05 round ,H, VS1, vg polish/sym, set in a plain tiffany's diamond. The band is just their plain platinum band too (needless to say, we got good jobs after graduation So now, at 27, we're more settled fiancially, hubby got relocated to No. VA where we are now, and he has a job with the government. So, even though our 3 year wedding anniversary is in Feb, he decides to surprise me with a larger diamond--Perhaps it's male pride, ego, alphamale syndrome, etc?? But he kept telling me how these lawyers he works with have HUGE ROCKS. He felt the need to upgrade... SO now I'm on my soon-to-be 'technically' 3rd ring which I told him would be my last!! It'll be a 3.10 Princess G color, VS1 clarity (NOT FROM TIFFANY'S this time), vg polish/sym, no culet, med gridle, blah blah blah, good colorscope (what ever it's real name is), GIA certified. I had it in again, a plain setting, but less than 2 weeks, I decided I wanted it in a tappered baguette setting... SOOoooooooooo, it'll be here FRIDAY As for my band? I've updated those a few times... When my hubby got me a plain band w/ my 1.05 Tiffany, I a year later got a band with alternating round/baguette (just top half) from Bluenile which I love THEN, a year later, I got an eternity ring set in the same round/baguette. BUT it was in a bar setting.. And as I've posted and vented to Asschers, I am having it reset in a channel setting and have to wait probably a week or more for it to arrive...So currently, I'm RINGLESS!!! I don't have any pics posted of either of my babies... BUT we're going shopping this weekend, and it seems like you need a digital camera to post pics??? And I promised everyone I'd post one when my new 3.10 princess comes.... <phew> that answer your question PS I LOVE the kaplan pic!! Your story? It came back to you! How cool was that?! It's a sign that's for sure. PPS, someone on DT and I said we hated our small hands... Yup, I'm 5'3", have STUPIDLY small hands, sooooooooooo small and short that my 3rd graders even have larger hands then me.... I wear a 7.5 when I 'stack' them, but if I were to wear one ring alone? It'd be 7, 'cause the 7.5 is a little loose--so I'm a bit afraid of posting my stubby hands... I want long hands!!

Re: Arranging your rings on your finger

Re: Arranging your rings on your finger
Snooper Ringless!!!! Sounds like a disease. Could you wear either your platinum band or diamond band, not being re-set, or both until the others arrive???? How do you plan to wear all these rings once the new ones arrive??? |
|
|
Ringless=sad sad time in my life... It's a disease alright!
Hi AshBee, Well, it's wednesday night, so I'll manage till friday (ringless) when my ER comes I'm thinking that once I get my ER (princess w/ tappered baguettes), my eternity band might not look good??? I have thought about just using my plain platinum 2.5 mm band with my ER...When I had my round 1.05 in the plain Tiffany setting, along w/ the plain Tiffany band, it looked naked... Then when I tried the round/baguette with my 1.05 ER it looked great. That's what convinced me have an eternity in the same setting made. Then, when I put that eternity band w/ my princess, it still looked great! But now that I had my Princess ER reset into the tappered baguettes, I"m wondering if the band will look tacky When ever I get my rings and come to a decision, either way, I'll only wear one band and my ER. I have short, and SMALL hands. As much as I'd like to stack them, I don't think I have enough "finger" to support it... I'm a little shy about posting my hand pics, but a promise is a promise.... Just because my hands are stupid, doesn't mean my 'babies' must suffer because of it I'm going camera shopping this weekend so I can post pics this week Both Asschers's and I are getting our rings the same day

Re: Arranging your rings on your finger
Ringless If your new princess looks great alone, you could wear it that way. I say this because in a lot of cases I see beautiful e rings that look cluttered when paired with wedding rings. Even matching sets.... I had one of my stones in the Vatche pave X prong mount but never bought the pave' band to go with it because, to me, the two together were just too much for one finger. |

Re: Arranging your rings on your finger
Susi, Only one day left That's a good point... Maybe I'll wear my ER alone??I wonder if that's why we only see "Gabrielle" from Desparate HOusewives wear only her ER?? After sleeping on your question, I think I'll first try my ER w/ a plain band, and just try my eternity band on my right hand?? I recognize your ring from your "avatar"... WOW!! It looks amazingly white and I've always been a huge fan of the vatche settings--maybe that'll be my future 4th setting, like for a 10-15 year anniversary??? Something to think about definately. Do you just wear your ER alone or do you wear it with a plain band? What are thee specs on your round? (if you don't mind)--sooooo white! |

Re: Arranging your rings on your finger
Snooper.....I always wore this ring alone and the mount is with the jeweler. It is the stone ring I traded in to get my Kaplan back.... Thank you, for your very kind words. The stone in this Vatche mount is 2.05 I VS2 GIA. It was originally mounted in a "baguette on each side" mount which I also received a lot of compliments on.... Strangely, this ring that you asked me about was the one that everyone noticed ( Vatche ) but was not, in the end, my favorite I was not happy with the lack of brilliance ( white light return ) on this 2.05 stone although it sparkled a lot....and it was a nice weight stone. And, the I color was not helped by the lack of white light return either. So, although I loved the mount, I traded the stone back in for my beloved little Kaplan stone/ring....which is smaller but is much whiter, is ideal cut and sparkles aplenty.*Sigh* we diamond lovers are funny....aren't we

Re: Arranging your rings on your finger
LOL Susi! My husband thinks I'm crazy for changing my ER. (It's only begun, little does he know hehe... Men don't get it, do they??I will agree with you though, your Kaplan just has more "presence" and it's just amazingly unique! If I had to choose between the Kaplan and the vatche, I'd choose the Kaplan. It beggs to be noticed and complamented on!! BTW, for an "I" color! Wow, that's pretty darn white looking!! I will definately in the future consider I. Even Jan had showed a "J" and I was surprised by the lack of yellow it demonstrated.... Shine on! Sam |
