Welcome four

It's difficult to tell just from numbers, but it certainly sounds like a wonderful diamond and a nice quality setting. I'm not that familiar with the individual styles numbers of those settings, but I'm sure it will be lovely.

I hope you'll share some photos here when you recieve it.

Congratulations!!

Sadly we've still to got wait six to eight weeks for Vatche to drop the stone in the setting, but I'll make sure to get some up once I've received it.

Numbers look good. Pics would look even better! In all seriousness there is nothing that raises a red flag with the specs. How did the diamond look in person?

Looked great to my novice eyes. The g/f thought it looked nice too, and really that's the whole point I suppose.

Hi,
You might consider that the 904 takes a 1.25 ct. center stone. With 5mm 1/2 ct each on the sides, the carat size you listed above might look small next to these side stones.

I have that style mounting ,and I put a 1.00 ct. with the same diameter in the setting to see what it looked like myself. Then I put a 1 1/4 ct. in the middle to see.

Brad, We tried a 1.25 between 1/2s and a 1 between 1/3s, and found we liked the 2:1 ratio best visually. The setting itself is sufficiently minimal and custom that we're not too worried about the stone looking lost. I'll be sure to get pics up once it arrives (in six to eight weeks or approximately two eternities, depending on whether you consult the calendar or my girlfriend ).

I was just getting ready to post pictures to give you a visual but if you've already seen this set up then it doesn't matter.

Eternity last that long?

If you are going to go with a 2:1 ratio, your going to need about a 3.5 ct. center.

Thats millimeters.

Heh. I should clarify: we liked the look of a 2:1 carat/volume ratio for center:sides, which you're right doesn't equate to a 2:1 width-in-mm ratio.

We're looking for something that's "definitely not a solitaire", so we wanted the side diamonds to look more like first-class citizens and less like garnish. Initially we were looking at a 1:1 middle:side carat/volume ratio (all three stones the same size), but we couldn't resist putting in at least one stone that was a full carat, and couldn't afford three of them.
