Hi Everyone A friends Aunt gave me her old yellow gold ring with this tanzanite in it. I won't describe the mounting that this stone came out of because it can't be done in a nice way. Any way she asked me to make a new home for it. It took a couple of drawings to get on this page. We ended up adding .49ct in trillion diamonds and two little .02 bezel set round diamonds to the mix and this is the end result. Size 4, 14ky .53 total weight in diamonds SI1 G. I never measured the size of the tanzanite I just made the ring around it. The trillion diamonds are 5mm from tip to tip. Have a wonderful day EngraverDave |

absolutely beautiful! I'm kicking myself for getting my original e-ring diamond set in Tacori instead of researching it further and having someone as talented as you are make my ring...*sigh*. Painfully expensive lesson for me. I'm continually amazed by your work. You should be VERY proud!

WOW! That's fabulous... I love all the detail work. The tanzanite isn't too bad either! She must have been thrilled with the final piece.

Hey Dave
EngraverDave, As a bench jeweler I have always admired the work of a good engraver. Just joined this group - your work is outstanding. Also, how do you get such good pictures? Tom |

I want that ring
Dave, you forgot to post how much you were asking for the ring. |
|
|
EngraverDave, That's beautiful work! If it's not imposing on either you or your client to ask, what were the charges for this piece? How long did the process take? |
|
|
EngraverDave, As usual you've created another beautiful ring. irish |

Thank you everyone for the nice words. The photos were taken with a Nikon 995 using a home made light dome. The dome was made out of a circular magnifying light the magnifying glass was removed and a white piece of plastic was put into it's place. A hole was cut into the plastic to allow the lens to fit. The camera and the light are held as one unit and a piece of white paper is used as the back drop. A piece like this takes around 20 hrs to complete, from the initial wax carving to the finish engraving. Peace, EngraverDave |

Dave, I was thinking in terms of how much time a customer who wants a piece like this should expect to allocate before they get their new treasure. 2 weeks? 6 weeks? Something tells me that 20 hours isn't enough lead time.

time
LOL My mistake This one took about 4 weeks that is roughly how long it takes to get most things out. Depending on how involved the pieces in front of me are and how long it takes for the client and me to get on the same page as far as all aspects of the design. Peace EngraverDave |
