Amazing Sapphire
While checking out a link to Christie's from the diamond forum I came accross this ring that I had to share. The sapphire has such amazing color; its amazing!!! I am not crazy about the setting but I guess I could learn to love it if I was given this ring. Times like this I ask my poor DH to the computer so I can share my fascinating finds with him although strangely enough he usually doesn't have the same reaction I do.... ![]() |

No...? I posted the image. That's strange that you can't see it. Here's the link so you can check it out. They have some exceptional pieces. http://www.christies.com/promos/feb...lery.asp?page=9 |

Thanks for the link. It was pretty. |

Your welcome! It's not super sparkly being a cabachon and all but the color is amazing. |

Well, now I'm looking all over the place for pics of cab sapphires! I found this at CherryPicked...it would only set you back $150,000 (Loch..how did a ring offered by Christie's end up in a snow storm???) widget |

AAHHH!! It's contagious. I know what you mean. Normally I'm not really a cab person but when I saw that photo it was just stunning. I have to check my piggy bank; if I've got enough pennies I'll give you a run for your money on the cherrypicked stone; although owning a Kashmir stone would be the ultimate. I should have know better and posted the specs sooner. Per Christie's Sale 1324, Lot 423 A SUPERB KASHMIR SAPPHIRE RING The sugarloaf sapphire weighing 20.79 carats with fancy-cut diamond shoulders to the plain 18k gold hoop, ring size 6 With report no. 43744 dated 21 October 2004 from the SSEF Swiss Gemmological Institute stating that the sapphire is of Kashmir origin, no indications of heating. Estimate: SFr280,000-360,000 (US$240,000-300,000) Don't know much about the snowstorm.... only that an talented painter is now without their palettes as they were too caught in the terrible storm. ![]() Per Christie's Sale 1324, Lot 411 A pair of diamond and gem-set "Painter's palette" earrings by Suzanne Syz Each designed as a pavé-set brown diamond paint palette with vari-shaped amethyst, spinel, orange garnet, tourmaline, yellow sapphire, apatite, rose-cut diamond, cabochon emerald, and sapphire 'paints', each holding three paint brushes, mounted in 18k red gold and silver. Estimate: SFr35,000-50,000 (US$30,000-42,000) Surprisingly this reindeer miraculously avoided the ruckus. ![]() Per Christie's Sale 1324, Lot 365 A diamond and gem-set stag brooch by Michele della Valle Estimate: SFr10,000-15,000 (US$8,400-12,000) I've been addicted to the site all day! The pieces on there are gorgeous. I need a bunch of money and plane tickets to all the auction cities!

LOL...what a great post! Aren't those palette earrings wild??? I don't know what they'd look like on, but they sure are fun to look at!!! I love the freeform "gem dollops" of paint! widget |
|
|
OK, Now I can see all of the photos... maybe my computer was acting up the other day. Love the pallet earrings. I agree that they might not look as good on as to be seen in the hand
|

Bummer. I wonder why? When I went on Christies site today I had no trouble. Browser settings maybe? I've found every once in awhile I can't see pics people post either. They appear as small white rectangles with a little red X in the upper right hand corner. It that was is happening to you? |
|
|
I don't know what is happening, but I could see them at work, but I can't see them from home. I can see Widget's pictures though. No red X - just nothing there. Shrug - wonder what else I am missing. :P |

Can you see this one from the Sothebys site? ![]() Per Sotheby's Of crossover design, the shank partially pavé-set with brilliant-cut diamonds weighing approximately 2.00 carats, terminating in two cabochon sapphires, mounted in 18 carat white gold. |
