I am unsure what the right amount is to give at my best friends wedding. We have been friends for over 10 years and I am her maid of honor. I know that most of the time the gift is based on how much each plate is but in this case her parents are paying for the reception.

I will be bringing a guest with me so I have to account for 2 people. I live in NYC and things here are usually a little more

PLEASE HELP
The wedding is in 3 weeks

Since you are the maid of honor and you have been friends for 10 years, I would say somewhere between $250-$350.
We just had a very informal picnic wedding reception and our close friends gave us $250-300. Your's is in NYC.

How much do I spend

Ok Dani, Please do understand that the rule of thumb is not the same for everyone. My thumb may be much more round and stubby than anothers therefore I wold not spend as much as another. My suggestion is find a great gift. Do not limit yourself to the amount of money to spend. Look at your relationship with your frined. Find out what gift would make her eyes dance, her mind run with memories of the great times you two had together. If that is a $8 baseball you found in Ebay great if it is a sweater matching the one you two fought over one afternoon that runs $45 great! Remember in ALL gift giving occasions it REALLY is the thought that matters!
