Last fall, thanks to all of the info on DT, I decided to upgrade my engagement ring for my 10 year anniversary. Turns out, that instead of upgrading, I ended up with a completely new ring...sounds like I'm, not the only one who's done this. So now have my beautiful one carat pear shaped diamond from my original ring, that I would like to have made into a pendant. Problem is, all that I can find is a simple basket setting...which is not what I want. I also have a 1/3 carat round to play with. Can anyone tell me where to go to look at pictures of unique designs? Or does anyone know of a design that is nice? I would like a very clean look that I could wear every day. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Marie

You are absolutely correct about the bezel on the pear. I thought about it later and thought it wasn't great to do that. I love the pendant you have pictured and it is very, very wearable. I hope to have one like it someday myself. Pear is just wonderful in a pendant, I think. |

I really like the look of a smaller round above a pear in a pendant. It's classic and just "goes together" so well! |

Thanks all for your input. It's been awhile since this post, so I did have the pear set in a simple semi-bezel setting (I'll post pictures a.s.a.p.). But, the back of the setting is too thick, and it blocks the light coming through -- so the pear ended up looking kind of "dead". I was planning to have it re-set, and looking around for other ideas, so this post is really timely. The picture of the pear that's dangling below the round stone is GORGEOUS, but I'm wondering if that's too much for an everyday look? I like to be able to wear my jewelry with both my jeans and my business suits. Is that look more formal than you would wear with jeans? Just wondering if anyone had thoughts. |

Hi mseipenko, Oh geez... I didn't even notice that the first reply posted was quite some time since your post. I usually look for that so as not to bump up old posts.. but guess I missed that! Anyway.. I'd love to see pics of your current pendant. And IMO, I'd wear that dangle style that David posted all day every day. I don't think it's too formal at all. But that's just me. Just throwing this out there... what about doing a half bezel on the pear. Having the tip end covered and then a half bezel around the fat end (leaving the middle section open... with some small rounds being placed above the tip end of the pear instead of one large one above it? (see photoshop image attached) Might not be what floats your boat, but it's what popped into my head.

I like both settings very much (DBL and the one posted by DiamLady). I think the DBL one is a bit less dressy, if that is a concern. I will note that around here I see people wearing all sorts of jewelry during the daytime (I live near Washington DC). I think you have to determine your own style and see if you are comfortable with a certain look. |

David's idea with the bezel-set round above the dangling pear is absolutely beautiful. And so classic too. You could dress it up or down. Personally, I would wear it all the time! |

I have a 1 carat yellow pear that is set below a (much) smaller round that my husband gave me for Christmas a few years ago. He was worried too that I wouldn't wear it often, but it is a rare day that I don't wear it not matter what I have on.
