I'm excited to be joining the DT community. I came across this place while doing research on an engagement ring. I would like to propose soon and am definitely in the market for a ring.

My girlfriend is quite traditional and petite, so I very much want to give her something that is as beautiful and classy as she is. She told me that she has her heart set on a ring with a center diamond surrounded by two smaller diamonds. I've seen some on the Web, but nothing that has totally grabbed me as of yet. Can anyone help me find the perfect setting?

I live in the Los Angeles area, so I am also interested in a local jeweler who could set the stone.

Thanks!

--Tim

Welcome, Tim!!

This is a great place...LOTS of ideas, LOTS of opinions!

Is this going to be a total surprise, or is your fiancee-to-be going to be in on the decisions?

Good luck!

Hi Tim,

Welcome to DT.

My wife is also petite, 4'11" or so.

I just gave her this ring for our tenth anniversary.

We used her original enagement ring stone for the center of the three stone.

Of course, that meant I had to get her a new solitaire

Hey everyone!

Wow. Thanks for all the replies. I am a total novice when it comes to buying jewelry. I did get my girlfriend some small diamond stud earrings for Christmas, but thatís really about it. So any and all information is extremely useful. I really want to get her something that she will absolutely love.

As far as the center stone goes, I think both of us would be most happy with the traditional round shape. I have to admit that Iím not sure what a cushion or asscher cut is, but I learned about the emerald cut here on DT!!! Is there any place where I can learn about the other cuts?

My girlfriend knows the proposal is coming, but I would kind of like to keep where and when a surprise. Iím planning to propose at Disneyland, at the exact spot where we met. She has already expressed that the spot is special to her, so I think she will appreciate the proposal happening there.

On the flip side, I am going back and forth about how involved she should be in picking the ring. Itís my honest impression that she would like it to be totally my decision, so I think I should keep it that way. (Although I could really use her help, which is why I am turning here for all your collective expertise!) The one thing she did mention was the 3 stone ring, so I am going to stick with that.

Thanks for posting those three rings. They are all beautiful and I will be checking them out further. And I would totally love to see other suggestions.

As for me, my primary instrument is trumpet, but I have played all the brass instruments in the past. Thankfully for my fiancťe-to-be, I pretty much just stick with piano now.

Thanks so much everyone!!!

Welcome Tim and Congratulations! Good Luck on your search!

I feel the the three stone ring is the perfect choice. Now, to decide which setting...tough.

I do love when the stones are set low like in the picture David posted above.

Once you narrow it down, please post and we can take a vote here on DT.

Best Of Luck
