I had a great side view, but messed it up during editing. Will try to recapture that view with the camera.

MANY THANKS to LOVEGEMS2 for assisting me with the resizing of my images so they would post.

I know the photos lack something to be desired, but I'm working on it!

Thanks for looking, and I hope you enjoy.

Thanks, Alex! It is difficult being in the "hot seat", not knowing how your photos will be received!
I definitely now see why everyone says that their photos don't do their ring justice, as my ring looks so much nicer in person; wish I knew how to photograph well enough to capture its actual beauty.

Commentary on the new mounting:
As you can see (I hope!), it is a very low-set basket mounting which I really wanted, as many of you will recall my posts with the problems of ring spin that I experienced from the Stuller 6-prong solitaire mounting, despite the fact that the stone was set in it as low as possible -- the Stuller was a "top-heavy" type of mounting, no way around it. And many of you will recall that I have a disparity between my ring size and the size I need to get over the knuckle (actual size where ring "sits" is a 4, but need a 4.5 to get over knuckle). That is why I was dead-set on having something set as low as possible for the size of my stone. The culet is as low as possible in this mounting. I wanted it to be anything but "top-heavy".
The triangle side stone (AKA "Trillions", but that is a branded cut and these are not from the Trillion company, so I suppose the politically correct way is to describe them as triangular-cut) provide further "balance" to the ring so as to reduce any chance of "spinning".
The underside of the shank is fairly wide, which is something I really like, although I didn't know I would! It really adds to the stability of the ring, and it is so comfortable as it is done in "comfort-fit" and is all rounded on the inside; it literally just "melts" into my finger, which is a joy after "fighting" with that other mounting for a year. Despite the underside of the shank being wide, it still maintains a "delicate" appearance from the top and side views, as no one sees its "heft" and subtantialness when it is on my finger.
I love how the ring "tapers" to a point on both sides, as it follows the shape of the triangular-cut stones; it is a really graceful look. And although I was hesitant about pairing a round with the triangles, I am thrilled with the look of it. I like how, despite it being a three-stone ring, it still brings the eye to the center stone, which was something paramount to my DH. I don't know if this is apparent in the photos, but it is when viewed in person.
I love how the side stones were set so well up against the round, it is such a fluid look. It has the illusion as if the part of the triange that butts up against the round is also rounded itself, although we know that it is a straight edge. I also love the double prongs on the center stone, which are very "petite" as I do not care for "chunky" prongs. Obviously, I am thrilled with how well it was set!
Specs on the stones:
Center: 3.29 carat RB, "premium" cut (not ideal), SI2 clarity, H color
Side Stones: .75 carat total weight triangular-cut stones, SI1 clarity, H color
Mounting is stamped "PT950".

Wow, it really is a work of art. It is hard to photo diamonds, but you did a great job. Your ring is beautiful.

That is so beautiful! Congrats on the new setting. (I hate spin, too) I really like the way the triangular cut tapers the shank and then the substantial part of the shank is disguised. That is very ingenious. Beautiful, (drooling) just BEAUTIFUL.

I can't stop coming back and looking at your ring. Just stunning! The side view of the gallery looks similar to one that David(DBL) posted for me a while back that I've been contemplating on for my pears. Just when you think you're never going to find something you'll be completely happy with, you hit it right on the nail. How awesome it is to finally get it right! So very happy for you, Headlight!!!

Perfect...

Headlight:

How excited are you? Your new ring is absolutely perfect.

I was one who was quite skeptical about "trilliant" cut sides, but these stones really show off your center stone to its maximum. Also, I cannot believe that those side are a total carat weight of .75, I thought it would take at least .90 each to balance out your 3.29 center stone. The tapered sides and the overall low setting is both delicate and sophisticated looking.

You waited a long time and your patience really paid off. I continue to live vicariously through you and will pull the plug one of these days.

Best,

CityGirl
