Oops! I didn't mean for it to sound tragic. It is a change for the better. I have never been totally happy with the 3-stone ring I had made last year. The platinum mounting washed out the color of the champagne diamond, and my old engagement diamond has pretty strong blue fluorescence but the other side stone does not. I love the look of the micro pave styles, especially with fancy shapes and colors. Anyway, I was cruising Ebay one night and found a seller with a smaller pear ring in the mounting that I wanted. I e-mailed her and asked her if she could get a larger one for my stone. she hooked me up with the jeweler that does a lot of her stuff and I had a custom mounting done. It has 1 carat of pave stones and is 14k white gold. It weighs almost as much as my old platinum mounting. Here is a pic she sent me before shipping it. I got it today and love it! I'll get some hand shots later - camera battery is recharging. I had the prongs done in yellow gold to accentuate the slight golden color of the stone. It doesn't show up that way in this picture, but in most lighting conditions it does look sort of faint yellow.   Just wanted to share my new sparkly! Christine |

that is so beautiful! it's very elegant! what size is your pear? I was thinking of looking into getting something done similar to that but with a round or cushion. would you mind sharing what jeweler did this for you? I really really love it. if I did get a pear thats exactly what I'd want too! the colors really compliment eachother also.

gosh, I just posted but I gotta say, HAND SHOTS PLEASE! I'm really excited to see what it looks like on your hand. I'm trying to imagine what it looks like from the side. okay, I think maybe I sound a little too excited  . but I really am  !

Ack! I ran out of daylight. I wanted to get some pics in the sun because that is how my camera does best, but I can't seem to get my act together. The kids were on spring break last week and we just can't seem to get our routine back. Thanks for the compliments. I am really happy with it. The only thing I don't totally love is the height. It is a little thicker and sits a little higher than I would have preferred, but it is not a big deal. The pear diamond is 2.06 carats and looks really huge in this new mounting. When I wear my eternity band with it, the point touches my knuckle. I am ashamed to admit it, but this has been a personal goal - to have a ring so big that it touched my knuckle. When I get the hand shots posted, those Have-To-Have-My-Wedding-Band-Fit-The-Engagement-Ring people are going to cringe. I promise, I will post them tomorrow. Christine |

cant wait! I kind of like the look of the band and ring not fitting together flush, if that is what you are reffering to. just makes it even more eye catching!

it looks very beautiful!!!! I'm so happy you posted them. I really like the look of the band and ring not matching up. I have stubby fingers too, I think my ring size is 5-5.5. been too long since I got it measured! but if I wear too thick a band it makes my fingers look more stubby. so when the band dosent meet up, to me it makes one's fingers look more slender. sounds weird but I like it . it's very very pretty, i'm sure you will get tons of compliments on it! I'm very happy for you ! thanks for sharing!

wow, that is so beautiful! I love pears and yours is so pretty, love the setting. Your eternity band looks stunning with it. I like it when they dont match up exactly, looks cool that way. Looks so pretty on you! |

you have excellent taste sweetpea - I think it looks really nice on you and I LOVE when the wedding band doesn't sit flush - like all those diamonds are just carelessly thrown on - what? these old things?

Thanks for all of the compliments. I realized that this is the first time in ages that I have just totally fallen in love with a piece of jewelry. I usually have to kind of talk myself into liking something to keep from hurting someone's feelings. Jasmin, I looked through my files and couldn't find a picture of the old ring. I think it may be on my old computer. I'll look in the morning. Mira, that is exactly my thoughts on e-rings and bands that don't exactly fit. I guess it's because of where I live, there are lots of wealthy society ladies who wear several different bands together with their e-ring and none of them really match or fit. I always thought it was a sophisticated look. |
