how many of you out there have their engagement rings engraved? either with the date you got engaged, or a few words...

i got my engagement ring engravd with the date, 9.1.04 (9th of jan for those americans who write your dates the other way around). someone else said it's not common to engrave it, so i'm just wondering how many people from dt do have it done....

I had both of my husband's rings engraved. In his original ring, I had "my favorite" and in his new one I gave him last year I had "I give you my hand!" engraved into it.

My husband had thought about having my rings engraved, but the shanks were too narrow.

We have lots of ring inscriptions. Read on:

Our wedding bands say our initials and wedding date:

SJA - DEA 3-16-85, and mine is vice versa.

We decided that in the store, at the suggestion of the sales person.

I never had a real engagement ring. DH was in college, and proposed with a dozen red roses with 2 white ones in the middle, representing us. DH planned on getting me an e-ring for our 20th anniversary.
( His Dad got his Mom one for their 25th, as they too had no original e-ring. DH thought he was doing good, beating his Dad by 5 years! ) I wanted one sooner, so for our 18th anniversary, he gave me a .81 round brilliant diamond ring with tapered baguettes beside the diamond, and had it inscribed, " YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE ". During the time we were picking out the perfect ring, I had been reading a book to him that had listed ring inscriptions, and told him how neat I thought that was. He took the hint.

For our upcoming 19th anniversary, I told him I wanted a thin gold band like my Mom's to wear with my new e-ring. I didn't mention wanting an inscription at all. I thought the original wedding band was too wide. He got the thin one, and had it inscribed: WILL U MARRY ME because he said he would marry me all over again ( and for another highly private reason that I won't reveal ) I wore the new thin band for a while, but I just kept thinking of all the memories I made wearing my original, so I went back to it. I'm planning on wearing the thin band on a chain with a gold locket the kids gave me 2 Christmases ago.

Sorry so long!
