How big does it have to be to be big?

remember BIG means a bit more than your just right size. How much more is up to up to you.

Lets not be stingy, your name doesn't go with your vote.
This is for fun, so lets be honest.

I thought this would be fun. Especially in secret. We are so practical sometimes. So I thought this unpractical for fun vote would be... illumniating.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I.

BTW, I saw a huge round on a woman. WOW! it was like 10mm.

Lets assume they are all perfectly cut stones. And not just big to be big.

Oh and if anyone wants to post pics on the hand to sway others go for it.

tried to be discriptive in the choices.

How ever much more you love above you just right size.

Some may think it is .5mm some may think 1mm some 1.5 mm or even more above their just right size is big.

It all depends on how much you think is big compared to your just right size.

I voted for my idea of big. Not HUGE but wonderfully BIG & luxuriously so.

We all know huge, so I thought it would be fun to say what big would be.

submission to sway some folks

Buttercup's ring on her hand. It is 8.2mm so would be less than 8.5 on the voting.

Is this big to you or bigger than the start of big?

For the record, to me this is the start of very big. but what is it to you?

Even when I tried on pookie's 8mm asscher sim with saide baguettes my FH said wow that is huge. LOL!

anyone else have submissions to sway folks?

big IS relative
Quote this post and reply to it Post#8 @ 02-02-04 , 01:29 PM

as we all know, big is relative the size of the person, their fingers and their personality.hehe.

in the trade, for round cuts, 'big' starts at 1.5 and in many cases 2 ct.

I think it is really relative...
I have a 3ct sim pear and it doesn't seem too overpowering b.c a lot of the weight is at the bottom of the stone. In rounds, it's another ball game. I tried on a 3ct OEC once and it was wow big! But perfect for me... eheheh

ah yes but overpowering would be HUGE.

I know this isn't scientific nor should it be but it is fun. I enjoy frolicing with you all. After all some people would think we are nuts.

How about the more interesting question--when is it TOO big?

Answer: Wearing stones that large just looks vulgar...except on me.

If the stone is big enough to cover the whole width of the finger, then I classify it as a Big Honker.

I own a few Big Honker rings--an emerald cut and a round brilliant---but before you get too jealous, they're citrine and amethyst

I think 8mm is the start of big too.
This is my ring on a sz. 4 finger

I think it's about 7mm.
I've been told it looks big, but I think I could carry a little more weight LOL.

7mm - 7.6 is about my just right size too.
Is your e-ring thicker from skin to top? or is your wedding ring a smaller size?

your beauty is a G color royal asscher that I love if memory serves.

The shank on my e-ring is a lot thicker than my wedding ring.

Jeri's wedding and e-ring together are a tad over 7mm wide.

To answer the question....I think you need to take a look at chadt123's ring. Yeah, that's big alright....I gotta catch my breath from that one.

This is a pretty stone, though yellow, but I hate the setting. It ended up too high.

Anyone have any suggestions for a low-set platinum filigree that would make it subtle?

Help!!!

I hope the photo attaches. I don't have much luck with this stuff. I will submit a side view, too, if I can.
