I inherited a wedding set. Approx 3ct tcw. The center diamond is approx 1.02ct (vs/j). The other nine are all approx .25ct.
When I took them to be appraised for possible sell I was shown where the 1ct diamond was chipped under a prong.
Should I have it re-cut or not?

Probably not...you didn't mention the size of the chip but from your description if it is "prongable" it is probably slight, either way any attempt to remove it might drop your diamond to under a carat and that would substantially decrease the value of the diamond. If you decide to do it consult with a diamond cutter (there are plenty on the Internet) but what you don't want to have is a nicer diamond that weighs under a carat, the improvement wouldn't merit the overall loss of value.
