Try Ebay...go to
http://pages.ebay.com/wedding/index.html and find "Designer Gowns," then clear the search and type in Reem Acra. Usually the dresses are used, but only been worn for a few hours. They are usually sold at a much lower price than retail. You may also want to find a consignment bridal shop in your area. There is one near San Francisco that sells designer sample dresses at a fraction of the original cost. I am not sure of the name. My friend that is getting married in October found her dress from someone listing on a search engine, brand new Reem Acra for $2000. She is going to provide me additional resources she looked into for finding her "inexpensive" designer dress. PM me and I will pass on the info when I get it!

Also try www.bridecouture.com and www.bridepower.com . They sell Reem sample gowns. They get new ones in all the time so check the sites frequently!

Those two dresses will run you $12000 (Gypsy) and $15000(Outstanding) retail! They are exquisite, but she only sells them in her New York boutique and considers them couture-level dresses. I have already seen a knock-off of Outstanding. I cannot remember the designer, but Lazaro keeps popping into my head for some reason. I haven't seen a knock off of Gypsy yet, but I have seem dresses with similar necklines and looks to them. I think St. Pucchi made a similar dress a while back. Good luck!

Basically, what I would do is get a bunch of bridal magazines (including old ones from friends, which I did) and start looking through them. The new ones should be coming out soon. The knock offs won't be exactly the same of course, but they will have a similar look or feel. For example, I think the beauty of Outstanding is the matching work on the bodice and skirt. There are a ton of strapless out there with that look, a lot of which are cheaper (although some are not). David's Bridal does a lock of "knock offs" for very cheap, so you could look there as well. I know they have a dress that looks just like Jessica Simpson's original Vera Wang. A good bridal salon, if you bring in pictures, should be able to get an idea of what you want, your price range, etc. and will bring you examples. You may end up with something totally different - I had originally liked Passion from Reem Acra, but when I tried it on, it was the worst thing I had seen on me. So you never know!

Keep in mind that a Lazaro knock off is going to still cost you around $2500-3000 at the very least.
Have you tried going to any sample sales or looking at sample sale websites?

My sister wore Reem at her wedding. She bought her dress for less than 500 off ebay from this seller. It was perfect, and it was authentic as she had the alterations done at Reem Acra NY and they confirmed that it was the real deal...

Hey!!! I'm good!!! How about you? I did get my gown... Unfortunately, I sold it because I thought we were just going to the courthouse.. Now my parents have offered to pay for our wedding, but not my dream gown... So I'm on a desperate search to find a reasonably priced Reem or find someone who can make me one..

Mars, I have seen that bikini! I guess it's for the bride who wants to spend a lot of money on beach attire.. LOL!!

REEM DOES NOT SELL GOWNS OVER $10,000!!!
Quote this post and reply to it Post#18 @ 11-19-03 , 12:49 PM

The post above that says Gypsy and Outstanding are $12k and $15k is simply not true. Gypsy is a about $6k and Outstanding is about $8k.
Call Reem Acra at 212-308-8760 to verify. They do not sell any gown over $10k unless it is a custom gown.....

Everyone, please get your facts straight, you could be leading someone AWAY from their dream dress!!!

There isn't any reason to get upset over it.... Obviously the girl who started this thread can't afford even a $6000 gown, let alone $12,000, so what's the big deal? I doubt she is going to run out and buy the gown in a store now that you've corrected the price for her.. Any way it goes, most of us can't afford $6000, so who cares how much they sell them for?

She's not the only one who reads this thread. Maybe there are others who CAN afford a $6000 gown, I'm just stating the facts and trying to help out. There's a chance a $6k gown could go on eBay for $3k, maybe more in her price range. I doubt a $12k gown would go down that much in price...but a $6k, sure it could.

I wasn't trying to be nasty here, just helpful.

I apologize! I wasn't trying to confuse or discourage anyone! I actually wore Gypsy at my wedding, and had thought about selling it, which is how I found the post. I have changed my mind because I just cannot part with it. To clarify, it cost me $7000 at the Reem Acra salon. Add the veil and it was $8000. Don't forget tax, and then a headpiece and shoes. Total wedding wear was almost $9000 at that point. When I went back for a fitting, someone told me that they had raised the price to $12,000 because it turned out to be a very complicated dress to make and had to be custom made after all. Maybe they've changed their minds though. Someone obviously misquoted the Outstanding price to me. But both are definitely exclusive to the salon - they have to get you in there somehow, right?

The dress is a size 8 unaltered, and in light ivory. I also have a beautiful veil and tiara. It has been sent for cleaning and comes already bustled I was charged($300).
I didnt put any stains on the gown and it is an original with tags. Good Luck girls. I just wanted to post it on here.

Sasa Bridal
Quote this post and reply to it Post#23 @ 01-25-04 , 11:02 PM

I cannot believe that a Reem Acra salon could actually not tell the difference!! In my case thats GREAT!! Sasa Bridal reproduces replicas of designer gowns for a reasonable price, all they need is your measurements and detailed pictures of a gown you would like custom made and they reproduce it, they even carry silk satin fabric. I've been talking to a girl who got a quote for a $6000.00 Reem gown for 699.00. And they have a very good reputation.

Reem/Prosperity is my dream dress

Hi all,

I may try Sassa bridal. I am very nervous though. Can anyone else tell me about their experience.

If anyone plans to sell their Reem Prosperity, I would be interested in speaking with them. I have to decide by the end of this month if I am going to order or not.

Just as an FYI, there is a girl selling Outstanding on Ebay for $3500. I don't know if that's out of anyone's price range, but considering she says that she was told the dress was $20,000, I think it's a pretty good bargain
