I thought this one would be fun too.

Feel free to confess which stone isn't your cup of tea, or the one you just can't stand - let's all try to keep this in fun - don't be offended if my shape isn't yours, okay??!

I tried to list them in the order I figured most people would have.

Me personally, I only really like ECs, pears, and the round (which I never used to care for but is growing on me), especially in OEC form.

I DON'T like the OMC, marquise, heart or radiant at all.

Ovals are alright in 3-stone form (don't care for them as centers or solitaires) and I'm getting used to (read: starting to like the Asscher) even though it will always be the EC for me.

Cushions I thought I'd hate (similar to the radiant which is not my thing) but I can tolerate 'em.

Hmm..it's not easy to pick a cut that is my least favourite. I think all the shapes are gorgeous and I'd love to have one of each kind *l* But I voted for the princess cut as being my least favourite. ~song

Although I would never refuse a gift of a diamond in any one of the aforementioned shapes, I would never buy myself a heart-shaped diamond. Too girlish for me.

I would have to say my least favorite is the heart, then the marquise and next the pear.

I don't like trillions as solitaires at ALL but they make nice side stones.

Well let me fix my statement....I have a .40 pear pendent and it looks great but I don't like it as a ring.

Ok, I'll try to post this again for the 5th time.......I think something is wrong with my computer

My least favorite is a marquise. The shape just doesn't appeal to me, but I did see a beautiful setting with side stones here on DT that really impressed me. My second least fav is the princess, but that is for personal reasons (which are probably stupid but a grudge is a grudge....)

I like emerald, I have a round (what's not to like? except maybe that it's so common), I just bought an asscher interlap, I can't wait to see what one looks like in person, (I couldn't find any asscher diamonds at any of the local stores around here but one said they could place and order for me)

My husband really likes hearts so I ordered an interlap one as well.

I don't really mine pear, or oval, and I like trillions best as side stones. Just my preferences.

I agree with Elisa in that while I would not refuse a gift of a diamond in any form, I personally wouldn't pay for a heart shape one. Just doesn't look right for me.

I don't care for marquise. Some well cut ones look great, but if I have to choose a least favorite - that is it. Usually, they are poorly cut to maximize length spread, and you end up with the dead bowtie. The ones that I like tend to be a little shorter on the l x w ratio, and set horizontally.

I like pears if they are on the fat side...never really cared for them before, but they are growing on me.

I did vote for marquise but I probably should have said emerald. I can't stand emerald cuts, probably because the ones I see at the jewellery store always have a fat, ugly carbon spot right in the middle, and this cut makes it the most obvious. I do LOVE Asschers though, go figure.

I don't like marquise except in extremely large stones, large as in too large to wear without being gaudy. I also am not a huge fan of princesses.

My favourites though are round brilliant, old English, Asscher, trillions and ovals. Ovals I like if there is no cheap-looking bowtie, and because they are quite a rare cut when it comes to diamonds. Every other type of gemstone is commonly cut into an oval, which makes it my least favourite cut in other gemstones, but I think it's nice and uncommon in diamonds.

I really don't care for emerald, princess and especially asscher cuts diamond, they look unreal to me. although, in the warm tones, they appeal to me more.

My favorites are Round, OEC and OMC, and I love the cushion.
I think when any stone is properly cut and mounted right, you have a winner!

I don't like marquise cut. They have a shallow look to me. I also do not care for pears because they are too bulgy.
I like a nice round cut or a princess.

Hmmm, the categories are difficult to respond to. I often dislike princess stones, but like radiants. I don't care for marquise and ovals, but I love pears. So I'm not sure how to respond to the poll!

I don't like ROUNDS, OEC, OMC solitaires with a passion (even though my wedding bands have rounds). I also don't like emeralds and asschers - too flat looking for me.
For a change - i do like marquise. That's what my e-ring is. I changed it once to princess, and just wasn't the same. But most favorite shape right now is a CUSHION or cut-corner princess. I'm going to get a ring like that pretty soon!

weird diamond shapes

i don't see any purpose to a heart shaped diamond.
i've seen diamonds cut in the shape of a horses head (but never a horse's a$$)

Of the standard shapes, i don't care for the marquise shape, but wouldn't refuse a 5 carat one!!

My least favorite is the heart shape. The trillion is nice as a side stone, but just doesn't look right as a center stone, IMHO.

My least favorite are marquise. The heart is a very close second. I just think the heart is too girlie for me.

Kudos to those who like them...you have more options!

It's difficult to answer the poll because of the groupings. IE I have a pear for my engagement ring and love it, but I really don't like marquise or ovals. But I picked that group even though my favourite pear is in it.

Next, I'd have to say emerald and asscher don't do it for me. I prefer sparkle rather than the larger facets of these cuts. Next, princess and hearts due to the overly romantic nature of the associations.

I kind of really only like estate diamonds (OMC and cushion, etc) and rounds, radiants and pears!

But then, I'd have to agree that one must never look a gift-horse in the mouth!

I really do not like radiant or princess. I think they just look rather boring and I think the sparkle looks too mass produced? There is nothing about the cut and the scintillation that draws me to it. But everyone has an opinion and I see from the poll that I am in the minority. Plus I detest, really detest the trillion. It looks like an accident to me. LOL. Susanp But then maybe I am weird, as the ec's which I truly adore, don't sparkle all that much, but I still think they are mesmerizing, so who knew?

I, too, am growing to love them all.
I used to dislike pear and marquise especally but now with trilliants and hearts, well, I still haven't really met a diamond I didn't like.

I wouldn't kick any of them out of bed.

Don't care for Princess cuts (or the like). All other cuts appeal to me. However, marquise, oval, pear and emerald must be of the right length to width ratio or it ruins it for me. Trillions are only for side stones, in my opinion, unless you are really into a modern look with them being tension set, but I am not into modern designs for myself.

I like all well-cut diamond shapes, but my LEAST favorite are square-cut stones. They're rather deep, and face-up relatively small for their carat-size. Less bang for the buck!!

Can't agree more. That's why in my cushion, it's going to be at least 4 carats in size
Looking deep inside myself, i think i picked the marquise cut back when i was getting engaged because of the visual effect of it being "larger" then princess or rounds of the same carat weight.

I don't like marquise. But then I seem to shy away from EC, assher and step downs. They show no brillance. Of course that is part of the appeal. But if I'm buying a diamond or sim, then I want sparkle!!!!! I'm a rainbow kinda gal. Hearts are cutsie, but then I like them in colored stones. Which now that I think about it, my wedding ring is an EC ruby. So I guess in colored stones, I'd like them as well. As anyone ever seen a ruby or sapphire assher cut?
