I was at a local jewelry store today and found an 18" strand of pearls for a great price so I decided to have a contest in honor of Mercier/Shannon. He was such a caring and giving person and I was lucky enough to be a recipient of his kindness on more than one occasion. Now, it's time for me to honor him by paying if forward.

I'm attaching a pic of a similar set of pearls since I don't have a digital camera that will take good pics of jewelry. This necklace is made of oblong freshwater pearls. It has a 14k yellow gold bead in between each pearl and a 14k yg clasp. This is a very dainty necklace and would be perfect for an adult or a young girl. Soooo, play for yourself, your wife, a relative or a friend.

All that I ask of the winner is that if the recipient ends up being someone that didn't know Shannon, that you please share the story of his kind heart and the love that he showed to his family, friends and strangers!

Here's a pic of a very similar necklace.

In order to win, you must put on your searching caps and learn a bit about Shannon. All the answers can be found among his posts or among the signature lines of one of his friends.

1. Tell me one of Shannon's favorite childhood memories.

2. Tell me which insect Shannon was most afraid of.

3. What was the signature on Mercier's emails? (This might be a tough one.)

4. Tell me the names of at least three edible plants that he had in his garden.

PM with your answers. Everyone who has the right answers will have their name put into a hat and I will have my son pick the winning name. The contest will run until Sunday night at 8pm EST.

Good Luck everyone!

I love your contest idea!! I am the very proud winner of KittyKitty's Mercier contest, hence I will not be partaking, however, I do want to wish the best of luck to all who play.

That is really cool. I'm not participating, but best of luck for those who are.
I guess that mercier was probably not afraid of ladybugs or butterflies :-)

Shannon was a beam of happiness, and who ever wins this pretty necklace will always be reminded of his good deeds and character.

Thank you Msmithmomx2 for passing it on, I am sure that Shannon is smiling above.

I am rooting from the sidelines on this lovely contest to honor and pay tribute to Shannon.

Wishing everyone good luck!

Time is just about up and I've only had two entries. I'm gonna post the answers to the questions first and then I will post the winner.

1. Tell me one of Shannon's favorite childhood memories.

I'm most thankful that my family never brought me up in a stifled, limited existence like a LOT of my well-to-do friends had.

My late grandmother who was a loving,God-fearing woman who would never step out of the house without a full manicure, perfectly blow-dried hair and lots of jewellery used to bring me and my sister to all kinds of places with her car and driver, even the dingiest shopping center video game arcades, just to see us have fun

Strangely, my fondest memory of my grandmother (and my childhood) was when she taught me how to peel prawns with a fork and knife (she never used her fingers as she thought that was unhygienic).

I'd have to say she was one of the largest influences in my childhood, and a lot of my happiness is associated with her

Her husband (my grandfather) too, he used to take us on holidays to thailand and he would dig a hole in the beach to show us the coral (I can't remember why) that was growing inside.... he also used to bring us "jalan jalan" a malay word for 'walk around' where we'd ask for every thing in sight and he'd usually get it for us :P

both my maternal grandparents were and are such wonderful people they more than made up for my paternal grandmother who was the evillest b*tch to walk the earth

my last happy and funny childhood memory is when I suddenly wanted to dig clams, and I wanted to dig clams so badly......... so my mum (who has never dug a clam in her life) packed me and the maid into her car and drove us to a nearby beach where she actually got down on the sand (in her full designer outfit) and happily scraped through this yucky gravel-ish type sand with our old serving spoons for 2 hours with me till she got dizzy from kneeling too long

that meant something to me, somehow.....it really did. and i still remember all these people who were actually digging for clams for their dinner staring at this insane mother and son with the maid..... we ended up giving all the clams we found away.....

Em, how did you EVER dare to bring it out??? i'd have smooshed it with a newspaper till it was unrecognizable and then wiped it off with lots of disinfectant.........

yak....

I once had a spider the size of a plate crawl into the kitchen from the service yard while my sister and i were in the kitchen

we both leapt onto the chairs and started screaming (we were very young then)

3. What was the signature on Mercier's emails? (This might be a tough one.)

This answer was in Musthave's Tag line.

Happy moments, praise God. Difficult moments, seek God. Quiet moments, worship God. Painful moments, trust God. Every moment, thank God. This was the signature on Merciers emails. I told him I loved the saying - it's so true.
