Oh gosh, I remember my first time. I was nervous too up until about 8 1/2 mos, then I just wanted it overwith. I didn't have any problems but I didn't do well with pregnancy, I didn't like not being able to see my toes! LOL |

msmithmom, I'm just starting to feel a bit of that wanting to 'get it over with' lately...but not too soon. I'm flying back to CA on the first of June & praying that the flight is totally uneventful. I'll be in week 32 + 1day. Also, I've been reading my pregnancy books again too(my husband & my mom made me take a break - I was going nuts!) and scaring myself horribly with the chapters on premature birth. arrgh!

At 32 weeks?? If the baby was born today, the chances of survival is ~98%...I used to do neonatal research. You're past all the critical points. Now all the baby has to do is fatten up, the lungs must mature a bit more, and grow!! My twins were born @ 34 weeks, and they were 6 pounds each, and only spent 6 days in the hospital before coming home w/ me. Put the books down, Kayla!!....your family is right!! |

kaylagee - - remember that the books are telling you the worst that can happen! Just relax, everything will be fine! Like Yogi said, you're past the critical point! AND as everyone says... enjoy every minute, they grow up SO FAST. Seems like my son was born just yesterday and now he's an 8-year old that is almost as tall as me. No more cradling him in my arms. Savor every day! :bunny: |

oh yeah, doesn't it look like the hands are on the hips! Sassy! You don't happen to have that mannerism do you??? |

lol! it's going to be a boy, so I hope he's not *too* sassy. ROFL! ![]() Thanks for all of the well-wishes! I can't believe I have to take that heinously long flight alone on Sunday. waaah! I could just bawl but I'm bringing my new Clive Barker book and hopefully the films will be ones I haven't seen yet. The in-flight 'radio' channels are usually cheesy but I totally lucked out last time in December, there was a Sting/Police program that I listened to over and over it was great! Also flying alone you have to watch your personal space more but when you're with someone you can at least relax on one side, have someone to talk to, watch the same film maybe ,etc. <pout> Oh well. Dh has to stay for work and move us out of this place too. I have my laptop at my parent's so, I'll be able to check in from time to time. I'll probably get a bit scarce towards the weekend, I'm not only packing for CA but we're also moving to another place here. So I'm packing some of my things ahead of time since I won't be here for the big move in 2 weeks. So, these are my last days in the apartment too, when I(we) return it'll be to a totally new place. Lotsa ch-ch-ch-ch-changes!

I flew pregnant to and from Sydney to California then on to the East Coast. I could swear that the pilot was turning the plane from side to side on it's belly just to make me sick! That was in the beginning stages. I flew the trip again at about 71/2 months, just before the no travel allowed cut off date and did much better nausea wise but swelled up like a big balloon and had a hard time getting my shoes back on because I had taken them off and put my comfy slippers on....10 years ago. Wow seems like yesterday. Have fun. I feel connected to you because of the shared experience! There are not too many of us around. Try to get the bulkhead and you can put your feet on it! Also closer to the galley and restrooms and first meals served- zoo class that is! American in Oz Sincerely, Beth |

Thanks Beth! The reservation clerk said he made a note for a bulkhead seat but that I'll have to confirm this when I check in. Also, I'm supposed to get wheelchair service in CA because he said that was the only way to guarantee having help getting my luggage. I'm trying to stay calm and not get too sad. After Sunday morning, I won't get to see dh until July 12th, seems like forever. sigh. We keep talking to the baby and telling him to wait until dh arrives.

Aisle is good too so you don't have to crawl all over people to pee every 5 minutes! Sometimes if you ask nicely at check in if the plane is not too full they can keep the seat next to you vacant. After takeoff you lift the armrest and then you have a double. Sounds like they are taking good care of you. Don't fret. I like United. I find it consistently mediocre. One bad hostess can make a really awful trip and some dont have a clue about how hard it is being pregnant or travelling with babies/children. United has even upgraded our whole family to business class just because I asked nicely. Maybe you should try that. It makes a big difference and there is no harm in trying they can only say no. Just tell them that you are pregnant and would really like to get some rest on the flight and it would be much easier on you if they weren't full could they please sit you in business class so you can sleep. ... They give you chocolates and champagne on take off and you get your own TV in the armrest and the seats lay back with a foot rest and you can actually sleep almost comfortably. Grab all the pillows you can find. The extras are in the overhead compartment. YOu will appreciate them going into about the 8th hour! Best of luck! You will be just fine. I got alot of movement at take off and landing but Andrew was quiet mid flight, just went wild with the sudden change in cabin pressure (?) Dont let it scare you. Enjoy being home. I am making the trip in Dec with DH Andrew aged nine and god help us James aged two. I always (with Dr permission) sedated Andrew when he was little with antihisitmines....there are some tricks to getting through customs quickly with kids too while all the other poor schmoes wait in mile long lines, but you don't need those just yet! Sincerely, Beth |

hi everyone! i hope everyone is doing fine...just time for a short note - Leo arrived on July 25th at 7:54 am and weighed 8 lbs and 8 oz. He's already 11 pounds, healthy, doing great and has completely consumed our lives - I'm attaching/posting a few pics. I still can't believe that I'm a mom! *** I was reminded to stop by DT after seeing the new "Right Hand" ring advert campaign in Elle and Vogue during a now rare & precious relaxation break. I thought "Oh the 'right hand' ring... that's totally DT!". I'm still waiting to be able to wear my rings again! I totally Michelin-ed at the end and my ring fingers seemed to go from a 4.5 to a 5.5 at least(?). I've just managed to squeeze back into my wedding band(was kinda loose to start). Wish me luck on my reducing! Hugs, Kayla |
