Where did you find it? (Not eBay, I hope?)

I'm certainly not an expert, but "silver diamond" is a term I haven't come across yet.

Judging from the photo alone, it seems to be a euphamism for "heavily included diamond".

JMHO -- keep the $100 until you investigate it further. Hopefully someone else can help out as well...

I've seen silver diamonds elsewhere. Give me a little bit and I'll think of where.

I think they're neat stuff.

From the picture you have posted, I believe the stone appears to be an example of a diamond with very low transparancy, industrial rather than gem quality and little or no value.

Perhaps one of the many knowledgeable diamond professionals and/or dealers who frequent these forums can give you a definitive answer.

Silver Diamonds:
Silver is one of the common names given to Gray diamonds, and Gray diamonds can occur in different clarity levels. The one you showed is not "IF", but (IMHO) closer to I-3.

Thaigem does not have a great reputation from what I have read on this forum.

Well.... about Thaigem... I read so bad things about them here that it looks like somebody doesn't like them for some reason and this reason is not the stuff they sell

The ring I got from them is beautiful, I will post a picture of it when I get a chance....

Their customer support is one of the best I ever seen on the Internet...

Anyway, just IMHO....

01010, though I am not an "expert", I have to agree with the other folk in this board who say this is a very low clarity diamond. If it was just a "fancy" colored diamond with decent clarity, you would be able to see the facets clearly, but because of all the inclusions clouding the cut pattern, I'm led to believe it is in reality an I3 diamond.

I guess this picture doesn't show the diamond listed on thaigem.com and is just a sample image of silver diamond they got in their database.

The clarity of it is I (as listed).

I requested a photo of the exact diamond (as well as some other of their products I am willing to buy) and they said they will provide it to me ASAP. As soon as I get it I will post it here...

BTW... isn't it time for a new thread about Thaigem products? What I found is pretty old.... and it seems to be some good changes (hope so)

You should ask them to specify which clarity grade of I? I1's can sometimes be nice, but when you get into I2's and I3's, they aren't really worth your time unless you want a diamond drill bit, IMHO.

Also... the one thing I never liked about Thaigem was they used blanket representation images of almost all of their stones... they do have an eBay ID, and I think that may be where a lot of people formed their opinions on 'em, besides the few here who have ordered through them. There's a lot of negative feedback in their history... I recall not buying through them on eBay specifically because of that.

Silver diamonds is for grey colored diamonds. It is the same thing as Canary AKA Yellow or Cognac AKA Brown diamonds. Although it is not an easy task to grade their color.

I sure will ask them about an exact grade of I.... I am pretty annoying person when it comes to spend money... so I am talking to them several times a day....

I'll be interested in seeing their photos... and what their clarity grades actually look like according to them.

Thiagem has been "known" for misrepresentation. They do use the same photos for there diamonds and semi precious stones. I think it can be misleading for a consumer when there purchasing an item from them.
I have to agree with everyone else... it does look like an I3 diamond. I hope that's not the diamond your thinking about purchasing.
I am not ripping on them. They do have some nice jewelry. And there prices are reasonable, but .... I would check ALL of there feedback. Old or new.
I am pretty annoying too when it comes to spending my hard earned money...
Good luck!

Exactly what I said - I am not buying anything from them until I get a picture and detailed description.
