I have a 2 carat round American cut diamond VVs, clarity and H color. Its value was appraised in 1980 at $22,800.00. Approximately what would it be worth today? And what could I expect to sell it for? LI>Clarity: VVS1h: >Lab Comments:

Hi lucycocoa There is alot more information that would be needed. Does it have a Lab report such as G.I.A., this would give us some details on the cut quality.
It would have to be seen in person as well to get an accurate appraisal.

Thanks for your reply. I don't have any more information. I'm just looking for a general idea of how much a diamond would have appreciated in 20 yrs., and how much I could reasonably expect to sell it for compared to its appraisal value.
Thanks!

You will need much more info to get a crediable value.
This will take an appraisal for a resale price.

Unfortuantely 1979 - 1981 was arguable the worst years to buy a diamond. The priced spiked higher than ever in history and has never climbed to the same price.

You did not say if your appraisal was for the purpose to buy insurance or resale. It is probale your diamond is worth less than the appraisal value.
