I'm told that Steven is very particular about the sizing. I obviously cannot get it sized properly without ruining the suprise.

I'm considering:

1. Supplying a temporary platinum setting for the proposal.

2. Proposing with just the diamond. This doesn't seem optimal.

3. Some very creative way to get her finger sized. ie. Gift to spa. Have a gemologist go to the spa and take wax mold of her fingers (and feet, just to be less obvious), teling her it is something else to smooth the skin or something silly such as this.

Other ideas??

I don't believe one of her other rings will be sufficient, given the fact that resizing the kretchmer is such a hassle.

Regards, Mark

Propose with a temporary, inexpensive setting and let your future fiancee choose what she likes. I think the Kretchmer would be amazing. She may or may not. Whatever she chooses can be sized perfectly, which is of course so important with the tension set.

Yes, that looks like the most likely option lawmax. I wonder if a jeweler can hurt the stone in any way by mounting it? The girdle is thin to medium -- could it be chipped?

I'm sure the stone is perfect and setting it in a simple prong setting should not be a problem.

Does anyone know of any issues using an ultrasonic with a tension setting such as the Kretchmer Omega??

It shouldn't be a problem. The true tension set rings are set very well.
