Just picked up US Weekly Magazine. On the cover is "Hollywood's 25 Most Romantic Proposals". There is an entire page on celebrity engagement rings! All I can say is WOW. Finally got to see a pic of Catherine Zeta Jones's 10 carat marquise - didn't know it was set east to west. I will try and scan this page of the magazine and post it as soon as possible. For those who can't wait - do go pick up this mag at the newsstand - you won't be disappointed! Lisa |

Sorry...
The quality is quite bad - Sorry about that.... |

I went and checked out this magazine on my lunch today. For some reason, I am just not impressed with these celebrity rings. It's no jealousy; maybe I just expected more creativity. I've seen prettier rings on women that have come into my pharmacy.

This guy Neil Lane has a lot of fiancees. |

I think some of them are perfectly ugly. I guess I shouldn't say that, just not my taste. I read on another post that Toni Braxton's ring came from Kay Jewelers. I was really surprised by that. I guess her finace didn't come to DT before he purchased!

Well I would not hesitate wearing Reese Witherspoon's or Kate Hudson's rings. Their awesome!! |

I have to say I rather liked Maddona's ring, it would compliment my 2ct old english brilliant cut solitaire e-ring very well - worn on the third finger of the right hand, of course. Are there other ladies out there who like to match up the rings they wear on both hands? I feel certain rings compliment each other while others fight for attention even when they are on different hands. Oddly enough, I've been looking around for somthing like this for just this reason, but I doubt my hubby could stretch to 5cts. Maybe three sims would do the job. PS I'd love to know what the cut of my ring says about me! Can't make it out from the pic and no way of buying the mag here in the UK. My ring is round - anyone want to tell me what it says? |

T-Rex, I agree with you. I feel similarly. Many of those settings seem very generic to me; not particularly designerly. |

Ah, did you see who is quoted in the yellow section? Isn't Fred Cueller that horrible man who has the website and says nothing good about anyone's diamonds except his? I also agree I like the size of the stones, but Catherine Zeta-Jones and Courteney Cox are really the only one with a unique setting. I really don't like Courteney's ring that well. Those two stone rings always remind me of boobs

Thanks for posting. I wouldn't turn down any of these. Most are classical elegant and not trendy. |

Bagpuss, what your diamond says about you...
and everyone else too! I subscribe to US, and I can't resist transcribing the yellow portion of that page posted above (sidenote: is there a marketing conspiracy against poor old marquise?): What Your Diamond Days About You Fred Cuellar, president of Diamond Cutters International says you can learn a lot about a lady from the cut of her rock Round: "Round wearers tend to be old-fashioned, honest and faithful. Their marriages have the highest success rate." Who's got one: Madonna Emerald Cut: "These wearers are leaders. They don't try to impress others." Who's got one: Sarah Michelle Gellar Pear: "These women enjoy being different. They also tend to be perfectionists in love." Who's got one: Jessica Simpson Princess and Radiant: "Sparkly and fun, like their owners. When their marriages fail, it's often because the man can't keep up." Who's got one: Jennifer Lopez Heart: "Heart wearers are the most cheated on. they live in Fantasyland." Who's got one: Joan Collins Oval: "They make great wives. They're stable, but with a wild side." Who's got one: Toni Braxton Marquise: "The crown jewel for divorce! The guys are usually trying to overcompensate for something." Who's got one: Posh Spice, Catherine Zeta-Jones |

I have seen many women with those 2 stone rings like Courtney Cox Arquettes'. They are usually made using Grandma's hand me down earrings with very poor color and clarity. Why would anyone wear such a hideous ring?-----Susan |

brandnewstone... Thanks for transcribing that piece! I was curious as well

Brandnewstone Thanks for the transcription! I'm The old fasioned, honest and faithfull type it seems - quite true. I've been maried faithfully for 26years. PS I was left a two stone ring like Courtney Cox Arquette's and I hate it too. It's so ugly. Thankfully it doesn't have any great sentimental value so I think I'll turn it into something else. Either a pair of earings or side stones for another ring. Why anyone would choose these style, beats me. |

Oh, I forgot. I was just watching the new BBC costume drama, Daniel Deronda (George Elliott) and the engagement ring the baddy gives the heroine was the same diamond ring they've just been selling on one of the UK shopping channels (Ideal World). It was a baguette and round diamond cluster ( the baguettes, were in the shape of a cross and surrounded by smaller round stones ). I thought when I saw it on Ideal World that it looked old-fashioned, the film makers obviously agreed! It is so funny when you see modern stuff in period dramas but I never expected it to be the jewellery! Mind you she also had some lovely pear shaped drop sapphire earings - great colour - that I wouldn't mind owning. Jewellery figured quite a lot in the story actually - Daniel buys and returns a turquoise and gold neclace that she is forced to sell and she hangs on to it as a reminder of him. I guess we women have always been a sucker for jewellery!

The reason that Courtney Cox Arquette's ring is the double stone ring is that apparently David Arquette's lucky number is 8 and that is what the two stone ring reminded him of. Ugly yet meaningful. |

Here is a pic of my Asscher which looks like Kate Hudson's ring. I do not, however, look like Kate Hudson. Darn it all! (PS It's a BG!) |

Did Whitney Houston and Toni Braxton go shopping together? C'mon, you have the money, why not something unusual ?

Whitney Houston
That is not Whitney Houston's engagement ring. Her ring is either 13 or 14 carats - lucky diva Bobby Brown originally proposed with a 3 carat ER and she supposedly looked at it and said yes, humbly, and then he pulled out the real ring which she estatically said YES! (I guess she would be estatic with a 13 or 14 ct. ring).Pookarina, your Asscher is amazing Lisa |

I'm really into fancy colored diamonds. It's a shame they didn't put up J. Lo's ring. I would have loved to know the specs on that. Though, I must say, it's true, a lot of these rings have no personality to them. I mean, sure, they're big, but make it a 1-2cttw, and you've got something from Zales or Helzberg (I used to work for Helzberg a long time ago, so I would know). We DTers have come up with so many beautifully unique designs, even on the most modest budgets. There's something to be said for creativity. Besides, even if it's a sim, if you act like it's real, who's gonna know? I'd like to see which one of these celebs could pick out the real deal vs a VG or Asha! Just goes to show, money doesn't buy taste or intelligence. By the way, does anyone actually know the color of J. Lo's ring? Pictures are so inaccurate. Faint pink, light pink, medium pink? Just curious. I love pink.

Pookerina- btw, what does (it's a BG) mean??? Leeann
|
|

i think BG stands for bellisma gem, one of the popular simulants on DT. Also, there's VG for van graff. But I could be wrong. =) |
|
|
you are absolutely correct.
