Congratulations on writing post #200,000.

My guess is that it could. I asked a lapidary how spheres of rose quartz were made, and he told me there's a special tumbler used. If a diamond were first faceted to an approximate sphere, and then dropped into this tumbler charged with diamond dust, it should eventually erode to a sphere.

Then again, I haven't heard of this actually being done.

If you do a search, there was a mention of diamond pearls. These are diamonds worked to resemble pearls in shape.

Wait. I found it.

I have seen rough alluvial diamonds which appeared perfectly spherical. As for polished - I am sure it could be done, you would just need to ensure that none of the facets were aligned with the 3grain plane (where is is not possible to polish)

I recently saw a strand of roughly spherical graduated polished beads in the office of an Indian diamond merchant. The circumstances of the visit did not allow me an opportunity to ask many questions but he assured me they were diamonds (although mostly opaque and brownish). The beads appeared to have smooth surfaces with no facets.

Yes it is possible to proces of total diamond sphere. It could be full diamond or a diamond coated tungstencarbide sphere.

You get a high reflective accurate diamond sphere.
When you have interest in such a product let me know.
