Fancy Intense Yellow Diamonds
Quote this post and reply to it Post#1 @ 08-06-02 , 10:09 PM

Several weeks ago, I mentioned that we were helping a couple from the Philadelphia area acquire a fancy yellow diamond and create a custom ring. We have finished the project and the ring is now adorning the wearer's hand!

As promised, below is a photo.

The center stone is a radiant-cut Fancy Intense Yellow diamond. It weighs just under 3.5 carats and is Internally Flawless. The two side stones are heart-shape diamonds weighing just under 1 carat in total. The ring is hand-crafted in platinum and 18kt gold.

More photos of the ring can be found at http://www.jewelryexpert.com/catalo...ond-Ring-dr.htm

Very nice job! I like the way you combined the gold with the platinum.

Unbelievable ring. Can we get an around about price on something like that? I know, if you have to ask, you can't aford it. Just wondering, maybe just a little nosey.

Hi LoriP,

It is always ok to ask ....

In rough 'ball park numbers', a comparable yellow diamond would cost $35,000 to $45,000. Hand making the ring plus the two heart-shape diamonds would be $6,000 to $10,000 depending on the size, color, clarity and cut of the stones.

Best regards,

Art Anderson

P.S. Iceman - We used a dab of hot wax to hold the ring during photography.

Wow...Tasty ring! what a nice piece of work...

hot wax is a great idea for standing it up -I figured you used "funtack" to hold it upright LOL

Ounce for ounce , that FIY radiant seems very reasonably priced if you compare that with what a colorless, IF or VVS cut class 1A 3.5ct round sells for.

I LOVE that ring. And, in my mind, that was about the price I was guessing. If only I were a millionaire.

Nummy-num!!!

Is it just me or are those little "surprise diamonds" always just such a great addition to *any* piece?!!

They're so precious!!!

Hi Yellow24,

I share your enthusiasm for fancy yellow diamonds.

Last year we created a ring for a client with a gorgeous square emerald-cut Fancy Vivid Yellow. The diamond was incredible.

Photos of the ring can be found at http://www.jewelryexpert.com/catalo...iamond-Ring.htm .

Hi Jewelry Expert,
That is a spectacular ring! My fiance and I were driving on the freeway one weekend and came across a huge billboard that was showing this incredible yellow diamond and I had proclaimed my love for it right there and then and that was what I wanted- well, to make a long story short he didn't agree that I should be flashing a big yellow diamond as my ering so when he had my ring made he put 24 light yellow round diamonds on the sides of my ring(so from the side view all you see on one side is 2 channels with 6 yellow diamonds each and same for the other side!) and of course a "white" diamond as the center stone... but one day as my anniversary ring or a "I'm very very sorry" ring..I shall get my big yellow diamond!!!

Thanks Cassandra and Yellow24,

We are lucky that many of our clients ask us to be imaginative when creating their rings. We have been having a lot of fun lately with fancy color diamonds and fancy cut side stones.
