I originally posted here to get information about my new ering. It is a firerose cut, and I still haven't found out much information. I have since become addicted to DT and wanted to post pictures of my sparklie too.

I've no idea!

Is it similar to the traditional rose cut?

It looks cool! Is it sort of a radiant/emerald cut? Squarish oblong?

It is kind of square, kind of oblong, kind of oval. Very different. Here is the shape of the stone. Its quite different from the older rose cut diamonds. Kara

Jess---It is very sparkly. According to the appraisal, the table is a bit "too big." But I love it because it is unusual and I think it is has lots of fire. I get compliments often on it. Kara

"With 19 facets on the crown, 36 facets on the pavilion, the Firerose Cut has the total of 61 facets ( including the 6 girdle facets), as well as unconventional angle dimensions and large polished surfaces. The bottom culet faces up through the top facet, radiating special sparkle and shine. When looking through a loupe, it looks like the petals of a flower."

DA--thanks for posting those. I thought you had posted some unique shape pics in the past.

I guess mine would be considered an elongated firerose cut!

Kara,

My ring is posted in this thread:

http://www.diamondring.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=10818

It's the second ring from the top on the first page.

Post your ring on that thread. It's a thread of DT's engagment rings. It's a fabulous gallery! Your ring would definitely enhance the collection; your ring is so beautiful! Do it!

This cut most be very difficult and time consuming. How come there isn't more demand for this shape? It's wonderful!

Cordlengthx3-Thanks for posting. I don't know that this cut is any more difficult than anything else. I have an article on the firerose cut. Gabi Tolkowsky created the cut for DeBeers in 1986. It was used for some more yellow stones because it made them appear whiter. It was also used a lot for the diamonds mined in Australia. Although my diamond is from Venezuela and is an I in color.
The article also said the cut just really hasn't caught on yet.

I don't know, but I sure like it!

Hest---Thank you for the compliment!!! I have always liked rings that were "different." Almost everyone I know has either a three stone ring or a round stone. I know I could have gotten a gorgeous round brilliant (I have seen tons of beautiful ones on DT), but I wanted something a little different. I haven't seen another like it.

Kara - I think the elongated shape of your ring looks much better that the fire rose picture that DA posted. I have never seen that cut of stone and would love to see one in person. Congratulations! Beautiful stone and ring.
