My jeweler , who is a very nice person, made an error on my fiance's wedding ring. The ring was made one size too big. The jeweler acknowledges his error and is having the ring resized. My question is how can a platinum ring be resized to make it one size smaller? The ring was hand engraved all around the band.

Thank You!

If it is a wedding band the ring can be reduced in a ring reducing press ( can't think of the correct name this second)
That may scratch a little of the engraving but it can be touched up.
If it requires more than 1 size smaller a small piece can be cut out of the ring and the ring can be welded back together. This smooth welded area would have to be engraved to match. You should see no seam or change in the engraving if done well. The depth and width should also be the same as before it was sized.

Anyone know of a reputable dealer in NYC that does resizes for a modest fee? (Just want to know for precautionary measures).

I want to avoid 47th St. as much as possible as I fear for the safety of the diamond and ring (unless someone has worked with a good jeweler there).

thanks!
