I was down to one stone, and inches from putting a deposit down when a friend emailed me another stone, very very similar. The two stones are:

Princess square
Weight: 1.54ct
Clarity: SI1
Color: E
Fluorescence: faint
Measurements: 6.31mm x 6.40mm
Crown Angle: 38.9
Crown Height: 11.4 % 0.72mm
Pavil Angle 39.2
Pavil Depth 37.4% 2.36mm
Culet: 1% .06mm
Table Size: 69% 4.36mm
Total Depth: 72.5% 4.57mm
Girdle: medium
Polish: excellent
Symmetry: good

And the other stone:

Princess rectangular
Weight: 1.552ct
Clarity: SI1
Color: E
Fluorescence: none
Width: 6.18
Length: 6.74
Crown angle 34.5
Crown height: 8.8
Pavil angle: 58.9
Pavil depth: 65.0
Gridle: thin to slightly thick
Table Size: 71.5
Total depth: 75.8
Symmetry good
Polish good

The problems I see are that the princess rectangular is not as square as the other one, (is it that noticeable really??) while the first stone has faint fluorescence( If I take my lady out on the town will the black light in the clubs show the fluorescence to the point that we will notice compared to the other). There brilliance scope numbers are as close as you could get to each other. So what I need is for you guys and gals to help me out by giving your input on these beautiful stones. Thank you in advance for your time.

That's what I always wondered about the blacklight in the clubs?? I think with faint it will be difficult to notice in clubs without directly looking.

As for these stones, have you seen them? Are they priced similar?

yes that are priced very similar, thats why I am in such a dilema, everything is so close with these two. The only things the deter them both from being perfect for me are the things I mentioned in the original email.

If she's expecting a princess, she's going to want something that looks square.

Which one looks better in person? Are there any unique features about one stone and not the other that you can recognize with your eyes?

The inclusions on the second stone (rectangluar) is a feather soemwhat in the center of the table, while the first stone (square) has some clear crystals off to one edge and a couple of very small feathers both are 100% eye clean, which is most important to me.

I would have to say #1 looks like a better stone on paper. It's more square than #2, has a medium girdle rather than thin to thick, has a smaller table and depth (will make the stone look larger), and a higher crown height (generally performs better). You may want to look at Dave Atlas' chart as a guide for princess cut proportions.

Definitely #1. #2 is rectangular. I don't like rectangular princess cuts. I want a square. Plus, girdle and polish are "better" and the inclusions you describe seem significantly better. Faint flourescence should not affect the appearance in general. However, I think you should compare with the chart at: http://www.gemappraisers.com/chrt4.htm

In addition, what is the price difference between the two?

I would like to thank you all for your input, after emailing back and forth with the store. I've decided to go with number 1, now to decide on a setting and then how to propose!!
