First Time Diamond Buy

Im currently looking at a diamond with Robbins Brothers sale price @ $7995. I am very torn about this due to what I have been hearing about IGI certs. This diamond is also cut to the Robbins Brothers ECHO cut (98 facets). The specs are below: Date 09/14/2010 I.G.I CERTIFICATE DESCRIPTION NATURAL DIAMOND SHAPE AND CUT Weight : 1.00 CARAT(S). Measurements 6.53 x 6.56 x 3.85 MM. PROPORTIONS Total Depth Percentage 58.9% Table Diameter Percentage 58% Crown Height Percentage 13.6 Pavilion Depth Percentage 42.3 Culet Size N Girdle Thickness MEDIUM, FACETED FINISH Polish VERY GOOD Symmetry VERY GOOD PROPORTION/CUT GRADE EXCELLENT CLARITY GRADE : SI 1 COLOR GRADE : G FLUORESCENCE NONE Thanks for anyones help!!! |

HI I beleive that if you purchase a diamond for this price range you should buy one that has a g.i.a certificate,the g.i.a are known to be stricter when it come to color and clarity,than most well known laboratories.also If you'll want to upgrade in the future you will get a much higher price for the g.i.a laboratory graded stones than most other labs.if you want to get the most brillinace out of a round look for the excellent cut rating on the lab report of a stone. |

The ratios of the cut seem very nice. This could be why it is priced higher than the average 1 ct diamond. Also it has a G color grade so it will usually be near or above $6000 for a stone like that. Though for $7995 I would expect the price to include a setting. I suppose it's hard for jewelers to beat online prices. |
