I am thinking about selling my ring. Where should I start and what are some things I should be aware of in the process of selling it?

If it is larger than 1 ct my advice would be to get a GIA certificate. You can look up where the nearest GIA lab is http://www.gia.edu/nav/toolbar/find...ions/index.html
Once you have the certificate you can search online for similar specifications to see what other people are charging for similar diamond rings.
Then you list it on eBay starting the listing price at 30% cheaper than other places. And make sure you pay for a front page listing. Write the RRP in the listing Make sure you include a scan of the GIA certificate. So people can see exactly what you are selling.
There are plenty of savvy buyers who will know what it is worth.
