Antique blood Red Ruby | Emerald cut? | How much is it worth?

Hello How much approximately is this ruby worth? It is an heirloom that would date it to 100 years old. There are no scratches and the stone is blood red and very clear. It measures 9mm length 7mm across I am not versed on gem lexicon and am assuming the cut is emerald. I do not know the CT. Thank you for any help. |

Synthetic ruby has been produced since before 1900 and this looks very much like a synthetic stone. In order to get an opinion about what it is and what it's worth I would suggest finding a gemologist to take a look at it with a microscope . As a synthetic is value would be under $50, if it were natural it would be worth 100 times that or more. No way to tell for sure from a picture.
