Need Advise on Ring Purchase
I am writing to get some advice regarding a ring I am considering purchasing. I am looking to upgrade a 1/4 ctw band at my jeweler. They offer a full trade-in value which is why I am trying to stick with them for this upgrade. The ring I am looking at has the following specs: 1. 1.00 ctw 14K White Gold Anniversary Band. 2. Princess Cut 3. Colorless- Color rating of D or E 4. Clarity- I1 The problem I have is that the jeweler doesn't have a lot of rings with a high clarity value. What I am hoping is that the colorless feature of this ring will make it worth purchasing. I understand how important clarity is, but do you think the color rating will help make this ring still shine? Please help me I am at a loss for what to do!

Clarity grades do not tell you what the inclusion is and how it affects the look of a stone once it's mounted. I have seen I1 stones which looked flawless once mounted and others which had inclusions which were hard to see but still quite obvious if you were looking for them. There is also the problem of whether the clarity grade is accurate or not. If so, then you may be O.K., if not and you may wish that you hadn't bought it. I would make sure that you have the ability to return the ring if it doesn't suit you and then look it over very carefully once you have it in hand to make sure that you like the way it looks. best of luck! |
