Inherited rings from my grandmothers and need advice
Quote this post and reply to it Post#1 @ 07-29-11 , 03:06 PM

Hello Everyone,

I've never done this before so I thought I'd ask around before I make any rash decisions. As mentioned, I have inherited two rings from my grandmothers. One is a rectangular shape with a sapphire stone and pave diamonds surrounding it. The second is an oval shape with a ruby stone and 3 diamonds on each side (6 total).
People have told me to get it appraised. But I am unsure as to where I should go. I have heard horror stories of jewelry stores changing the stones or ripping people off more than 80% so I want to do this right. So I am hoping for some advice and where I can go to sell these rings. Thank you!

Hi! Before trying to sell them have them appraised by an independent appraiser (not someone in a jewelery store). You can find an appraiser in your local yellow pages. The cost is minimal to knowing exactly what you have so you can make an informed decision on selling.

Hi again!! forgot to preface my advice by asking if you're at least confident that your rings are authentic gems and real precious metal

Don't let it out of your sight or someone might switch the stones....
