Qestion about value and clarity enhancements
Quote this post and reply to it Post#1 @ 05-11-11 , 02:08 PM

I have found a ring that I would like to purchase from a private party (someone I know). The diamond is a 1.51 carat round brilliant, ideal cut, G color, and SI2 clarity. Girdle is thin. The retail price paid for the diamond alone was $8,800, and the price to me is $5,500. After it was originally purchased the owner had is "sent in" through a local reputable jeweler for laser clarity enhancement. I am still valuing this ring as though it's an SI2, even though it now look looks far better. My question is this: will the clarity enhancement actually LOWER the value of the ring below what it was as a 'natural' SI2?

Thank you very much.

Was it drilled or filled? That makes a big difference.
